First On, First Off

Ice sounds better in real glass. There's me...then there's everyone else.
An empty jetway...no one to impede my exit. The e-ticket (with apologies to e_ticket).
A strange and, dare i say it, leisurely day here at the project from he project from hell. My boss just now made it in and it's almost 2pm. i was late because of the goofy flight change/cancellation i spoke of yesterday. Of course, that flight was overbooked as well and they were offering $300 vouchers to go later. i was VERY tempted to ask if they had a first class seat on that flight as well...then use the voucher to fly Matt up to meet me in Chicago for Bear Pride over Memorial Day.

The flight was nice. i was the first one on board and settled into my seat from which i could easily assess the procession of hot Daddies that had to pass my seat on their way to their rightful place back in steerage. The fact that my eyes were at crotch-level made it that much easier. We didn't get pre-departure drinks like i'd see on other flights, but when they brought the in-flight drinks, they were in glass, not plastic. Ice cubes clink so much more luxuriously in glass, don't you think? There was more legroom, to be sure, but the seat width was nothing to write home about...half of the bonus space was taken up by the big console between me and the guy by the window. Keeps one from rubbing elbows, though. When we got in, i was the first one up and, since i was in the first seat, the first off the plane. Nice not to have to wait on sloooow people. Bottom line, it was interesting and relaxing...but they offer me upgrades at $50 each. With a flight time of only 42 minutes, that's over a buck a minute. Not worth it. C'est la vie.

Speaking of "la vie", the rental car du jour (well, it's for the week, so i guess that's "rental car de la semaine") is a silver Mazda 6. It's got a nice strong engine and a six-speed manumatic. This could be fun. Maybe i should go for a drive at night after work. Maybe i should go for a drive up to Hunter's Nightclub in Elk Grove up near O'Hare for karaoke. Maaaaaybe i wiiiiilllllll.......
