Our buddy, Gary, started working at the local Chrysler/Dodge/Jeep dealer a couple of months ago when his job in the mortgage business kinda fizzled out on him - gotta make a living somehow - and has been rather successful at it. Could be the enthusiasm of the new or just his slow, folksy style which is just the way he is and one of his endearing charms. Anyway, he knows i've been looking for a car and since he couldn't tempt me with a PT Cruiser convertible (he knows i'll only look at convertibles), he's been keeping an eye out for something good. Last night, he dropped by with a 2001 Audi TT Roadster with the 225-hp quattro package. Sweet!! i have to tell you, it was a very tempting ride. i didn't really get to take it out on the freeway or anywhere somewhat twisty and a sudden rain made us seek shelter to put the top up. We fit nicely even though Matt smacked his head getting in, but it'll be a rare occassion that he'd ride in it with the top up anyway. A really cool feature was the power glass windblocker that rolls up like a rear window. There's no single CD player, just a changer behind the seat, and the red dash lights are not my thing at all. Plus there's no space behind the seat for Coco. i think the thing that finally dissuaded me were the super thick A-pillars/windshield header. Even with the top down, it makes you feel like you're peeking out through a turret. Had it been grey or silver sporting the tan leather with the baseball stitching (pretty cool looking), then maybe. But this one is just not me. "Hang in there, wooferJeep..."
