Awards Season Fever: Where Are You Gosling?

Jan 22, 2012 22:23

Still A Winner[Emma Stone Central]Though most of the ones I was rooting for didn't win, it was still nice to see a whole lot of pretty during the 69th Golden Globe Awards hosted once again by the now-tamer Ricky Gervais. In fact, he was so tame, I didn't realize it was still Ricky. Still, he did get some awesome hits in there.

That wasn't the only 'disappointment' of the night though. Ryan Gosling is nominated for two awards and is a no-show at the event. What a waste. Seriously. I thought we'd get double the Gosling fun and instead we get nothing. Thank god there were so many others to distract me from his absence.

Photos courtesy of Just JaredEmma was on fire looking amazing in her Lanvin dress and I wish she'd won but her co-stars bagged it for the team. New-ish mom, Natalie finally broke her seclusion streak to present at the ceremony and she too looked wonderful in Lanvin. There is a reason girls love them. Special shout-out to the Glee girls in red because they looked mighty fine. Amber's Badgley Mischka just suit her so perfectly and the detail on Diana's dress is crazy! Giles sure threw in a ton of time on the detail alone. I love it.

Photos courtesy of Just JaredI was surprised to see so much yellow but the girls looked cheery and bright in them especially Yvonne from Chuck who shone in her Jenni Kayne dress, which I now want to have. I wasn't used to seeing The Killing's Mireille Enos all dressed up but she looked lovely too. Zooey's eyes totally popped out in her green Prada number and the looks grown on me already. It was nice she was nominated for New Girl considering it's a new show and all. I'm really excited for more of this show.

Photos courtesy of Just JaredI'm a little in love with Sarah Michelle Gellar's blue Monique Lhuillier dress. I guess she's here to promote Ringer which I actually miss already. Best actress winner Michelle Williams looked really cute in her Jason Wu dress and her headband felt so very Blair, which I miss and love. So kudos for her. I'm also glad that Octavia Spencer won for The Help. Their table just looked so happy when her name was called. I really need to see this film already (in better quality, that is).

Photos courtesy of Just JaredNude seemed to be the color (or non-color, for that matter) of the night and I had the hardest time narrowing down the dresses. But Best Actress nominee Charlize Theron's Dior number just looked so good on her. The slit up to where and the plunge somehow looked non-crass and just classy on her. And though Smash hasn't officially aired on NBC just yet (I saw it though and it's perfection, I can't wait for more), they're not wasting time promoting it and sent Katherine McPhee to present and she looks so beautiful. I wonder if they'll get nominated next time?

Photos courtesy of Just JaredThough Mila looked gorgeous in her black Christian Dior dress (she's the new face, right?), I know she could blow me away more. This year pales in comparison to her red-carpet appearances last year for Black Swan. Still, I won't complain too much. Same thing for Rooney. There were moments in her The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo press tour when she floored me so even if her Nina Ricci dress was beautiful, I know she could have topped this some more. Special mention goes to Angelina Jolie who just blew me away with her sophistication and class in her Atelier Versace dress. It looks like they made it just for her.

Photos courtesy of Just JaredIt was so nice to see some of the Mad Men cast together. It's been a while since we saw them and March 25 can't come sooner. Also, I'm not the Ewan McGregor fan in the family (that's jamypye but he was adorable with his pretty wife, Eve. I hope we get to see him more. And look! we even got Lord Grantham and Lady Cora together! I'm so happy that Downton Abbey won! If only the entire cast were there.

The boys came out to play too. Fassy and Leo didn't win their nominations (George Clooney exists with reason) while Jake presented his Brokeback Mountain co-star, Michelle Williams's movie that was nominated for best feature film. And though I wish we saw more of Joseph, it was just a nice surprise to see him come out, so that's enough.
