Mad Men and Glee Win Big At the Emmy's; Jimmy Shows Us He's Pretty Good At This

Pretty x3[Socialite Life]It's a good thing Monday was declared a holiday because I wouldn't have gotten to watch the 2010 Primetime Emmy Awards. Thanks to the absence of my laptop, I've been sleeping quite early so it wasn't so hard to wake up. And the show sure kept me up.

Jimmy Fallon did an awesome job hosting -- from the opening number (hello Jon Hamm dancing!) to his song tributes and to introducing the presenters. George Clooney was handsome as always, receiving his Bob Hope Humanitarian award. And my girl crushes brought the pretty. I can't wait for Fall TV!

Mad (Wo)Men

Despite not winning for any of the acting awards, I'm glad that Mad Men took home the best drama series award for the third time in a row. I'm sure non-fans of the show are sick of it winning, but it really is the BEST thing on TV right now.

Christina

Robbed of her award, she still looked ultra stunning in her low cut lavender Zac Posen Resort 2011 gown with feathers that made sure the girls were upfront and center. I love the color on her and her hair is just on fire. This woman really knows how to flatter her body

Elisabeth

My favorite would have to be Little Peggy Olson though looking spectacular in her dove grey silk chiffon one-shouldered Donna Karan gown. From the hair to the make-up to the way she carried herself was just understated elegance. Looks like divorce suits Elisabeth. Gorgeous.

January

Definitely not the most popular dress on the red carpet, January (who apparently has no stylist) wore a royal blue silk Atelier Versace Spring 2010 strapless dress that was a party in the front and all business in the back. Her rolled out of bed look actually grew on me and her smile was just so infectious, I can't fault her.

Jon

And really, it seems like EVERYONE wanted a picture with Jon Hamm, because as many photos as I found him posing solo, there was probably more of him with somebody else. And I can't blame them. How can you NOT want to have a photo with Jon Hamm right? I know I would want one.

Emily

It's too bad David Boreanaz wasn't as the awards because it would have been awesome to see Booth/Bones together in real life. Still, Emily looked stunning in her ax Azria Atelier one-shouldered purple gown. Though I'm not a big fan of bangs like this, Emily pulls it off and it's making me hope Bones has a formal to attend this season so we can see her all dolled up too.

Dianna

The girls of Glee all came out to the show but Dianna stood out for me in her tiered lace Carolina Herrera Resort 2011 gown. She carries it so well, it's definite that she's carrying the dress rather the dress overwhelming her. So beautiful.

Heather

Totally surprising me is how gorgeous Heather Morris was in her Ina Soltani gold shimmering mermaid gown. Though we don't get to see much Brittany on the show, it's good to see her shine on the red carpet. I guess the gown had a contribution to it, but she was glowing

Jane

I am so happy to see Jane Lynch win for Best Supporting Actress and also look amazing in her eggplant Ali Rahimi asymmetrical gown. I hope this means even more Sue Sylvester in the next season because Sue really is the most awesome part of this show.

Nina

I didn't think it was possible, but Nina actually looked a bit curvier than her usual in her one shoulder blush floral silk Zuhair Murad gown with cut-out bodice and lace beaded insets. Yes, you can still see how skinny she is, but it's actually sort of masked underneath all this cloth and yet still shows how sexy she is. I wish Ian were there to escort her, but she looked awesome nevertheless (onstage too! when she danced in the opening number!).

Black and White

I know black and white are standard colors on the red carpet but these girls rock them like they're anything but basic. Kim Kardashian, whom I really am not a fan of, looked amazing in her white silk chiffon Marchesa Resort 2011 column gown. I know Momma Gilmore didn't get many raves for her dress but I liked Lauren Graham's black and white Yigal Azrouel draped gown. But really, funnywoman, Kristen Wiig definitely wasn't a crowd favorite but for some reason, I really liked her black and white printed dress with accents on the shoulers.

Hello Color

It's always a nice surprise to see colors on the red carpet and these women brought it. Jenna Fischer in the lovely red Versace Fall 2007 strapless gown (which I remember seeing on Giselle or something). Mrs. Kevin Bacon Kyra Sedgwick not in a slinky dress but in burgundy Monique Lhuillier Fall 2010 strapless gown. And thew Mrs. John Krasinski, Emily Blunt, taking to the sidelines to let her hubby shine in her lavender Christian Dior Resort 2010 gown.

Sequins and Things

I can't imagine how heavy these gowns are but these women looked stunning in their embellished gowns. Tina Fey looked so un-Liz Lemon in her art deco-style black embroidered Oscar de la Renta Resort 2011 gown and Claire Danes not only won an award for Temple Gradin but looked beautiful in her muted bronze Swarovski encrusted crystals and sequined Armani Privé Fall 2010 Couture gown. And finally, Jennifer Carpenter in her single-sleeved gunmetal sequin Oday Shakar gown was just divine.
