Has anyone been watching much of the Olympics? I've watched some when there hasn't been anything on as I never seem to have much interest, but I do end up getting a little hooked when I do tune in. I liked the half piping, which is like skateboarding on the snow and the races on snowboards. Where the other night the woman from USA fell while on her way to winning the Gold while showboating a little. Was sad, and she's cute. Also have watched some of the figure skating and races, along with some downhill.
Guess I like to follow sports better where I can follow them through a season rather than once every 4 years, but on the other hand I should watch and enjoy during the rare opportunity.
I know its a stupid thought, but I'm curious of how the Americans practice and get interested in such events as the half pipe and down hill skiing. And wonder if they spend all their life working towards the medal or if they have other careers. Guess you can't make a living as a skiier. But to be able to reach that high level of competion requires a lot of time and dedication. All for about 2 or 3 minutes.
Anyway, gave the childrens sermon at church again this morning. Always recieve lots of compliments from the adults on how much they enjoyed it. I try to make it so everyone will be entertained.
I won't get into the lesson behind it, but today I had one of the kids pick a number and see if its the same number I had thought of earlier and had somewhere on me. I said the number had to be btween 1-10. And taped on the front of my shirt under my sweater I had written on a piece of paper 1, 2 on my back, 3 on my right arm, 4 on my left, 5 on my right leg, 6 on my left, 7 in my right shoe, 8 in my left, 9 in my right pants pocket and 10 in my left. I just had to remember where each number was. The girl picked 6 and I got it right. And oddly enough, the girl who picked the number is the daughter of the woman who I wrote about the other day. I didn't even plan that.
And after church was a potluck dinner, a yearly birthday party for everyone. Last year the tables were set up to sit at the month your birthday was in and this year they had a few dates for each table. And though my birthday is on the 8th and should have sat at the 7th-9th table I cheated and sat at the table with my new crush. There wasn't room for me, but she went and got a chair and squeezed me in. So it made for a pretty nice early present.
