Dancing Fox

It's that time of year again! We went up to the Dancing Fox event this past weekend and had a blast (as usual). Nordenhalle is such a great group of people; they always put up the most wonderful display of hospitality. For one thing, their food is spectacular in quality, quantity, and variety. For another, they take excellent care of musicians -- very important!

Neither the L.C. nor I did any dancing this year, but we did get to spend time hanging out with friends. I sightread some fun, interesting pieces (yay Dufay!) in recorder trio form with shalmestere and Dr. Science, ate myself silly at both lunch and dinner, and got in big chunks of Branslers time in between bouts of working on my annual Dress-a-fox competition entry. I am exceedingly proud of my fox this year. Here she is!

She was loosely inspired by the May illumination from the Tres Riches Heures. (Disclaimer: I kind of cheat at this competition, basically. I use a hot glue gun, since I don't sew, and I usually bring a stash of fabric, trim, and assorted notions with me. I have no qualms about that; this is the one and only time all year I do anything crafty at all, and I figure I'd rather enjoy myself and be pleased with the results than worry about winning prizes.)

Anyway, lots of good music and happy dancers and fun stuff going on. unicornpearlz and zgwortz sounded great, as did all of our guest musicians -- except maybe the little girl who really, really wanted to play drum. Oh well. She tried, and I bet she'll be better next year! At least I hope she will... :)
