gasp! a substancial post

so whoever said that summer project with campus crusade for christ would be one of the best summers of your life was RIGHT! I am having the most amazing time ever. I have been in Daytona Beach for about 4 weeks now and I am loving it. DB is most definately different. I've heard it described as a nicer looking Mexico and the Land of 4 t-shirts for
$10, and I could agree with both observations. Despite these oddities, it really is a beautiful place. The beach is awesome (the water is way warmer than the Pacific!) And the people....holy mackeral! They're the best. I can truthfully say that I have made some of my best friends of my life in just 4 weeks which is utterly insane. I love them. I don't know how we are going to work out this whole " i live in ohio" business. I think some people should come to California.
Anyways, things are great. God is awesome and I can't believe all the things He has been teaching me. It has been so good to just be in the Word much more than I was during the school year. He has just been teaching me to love the Bible which is way cool. The other way cool thing that God has let me be apart of is ministering to this girl Jessica. I met Jessica at the Juvenille Detention Center here in DB and I was able to talk with her and share the Gospel with her. She aleady knew so much about what Jesus had done for her she just needed someone to tell her how to have that relationship with Him and that's where God let me be used. She is amazing and I really love her. We've been writing letters back and forth and I get to go see her tomorrow. I got her a Bible and I'm sooooo excited to get it to her. It's going to be good.

My job this summer is as a housekeeper at the Plaza Ocean Club, which I and fellow workers call the POC. For those of you that know me remotely well this job is hilarious considering I am a messy person who does not really pride herself in cleanliness. That being said it is a miracle of God that I am not only still there after a month but also LOVING it! The people are incredible and I just love them. There are a lot of eastern European women that work there and they say awesome things to me like "Kristen do you know what is mildew?" and "Kristen, sweep balcone pah-lee-zuh" (btw...balcone = balcony). So far I've not had any really awful rooms, but the job isn't quite like they show you on that J. Lo movie or on Blue Crush. The worst room was what Nick Weber and I called the Jr High girls sleep over from Hell! It was g-ross.

Oh me oh my...yeah I'm just having the best time. I do miss SLO and think about it often but that time will come soon enough. Please keep me in your prayers. Oh and thanks for the letters and emails. I love getting them, especially homemade shirts from Jonesy! ThanksX10! I love ya all!
