I'm going to Baghdad for four to six months!
I volunteered to go in support of one of my agency's missions and was chosen from a pool of other applicants blah blah it's an honor and an opportunity I couldn't pass up.
So...
I'll be leaving for training in two or three weeks, then going to Iraq. I will spend most of my time in Camp Victory and any other time with my head down.
Crazy? No. I thought it out and the opportunity to serve and the benefits, both for personal fulfillment and career opportunities, far outweigh the risks for me. My biggest concern was for my wife and family.
radlab0 is supportive of my decision, or I would never have volunteered for this work. My parents are worried (my mom is really worried), but they know I didn't just make this decision out of the blue.
Anyhow, just wanted you folks to know what's going on. Going to take a camera and some means of recording my thoughts. I'll have internet access, though I don't know in what frequency or bandwidth, so I'll keep folks updated as well as I can.
Any questions?
