Last night was my first class with Cairo Fusion. It was awesome! It was actually the fifth class for the other girls, I guess Samira just let me in because she saw on my registration form that I had experience. She was really cool throughout class and always treated me like an experienced dancer, not a beginner.
I already know a lot of the moves, she just does variations on them that I will have to learn (and break my previous habits, since my previous style was a lot different). I am not used to dancing barefoot on a hard floor, and I broke open both of my toes by halfway though class! Owwww. I'm going to have to tape them for awhile to get used to it!
After class I got to talk to her for about an hour, and she is much cooler than I was expecting. We agree on almost everything dance related, love and hate the same people, and her method is one I work really well under. I think this will be good!
The best part? She already told me that she's going to move me into the performance troupe! I was not expecting that she would do it so soon! She wants me to stay in intro for about a month, just to pick up on her technique, but then I can switch to the Gypsy Echos! Yea! We'll see how long I will have to pay my dues there before I can get into the competition troupe. *crosses fingers*
I am in a bit of a difficult situation, though. I've been trying to make up with my previous instructor (who stopped speaking to me for awhile when she found out I was planning on joining another troupe). It was going really well, and I told her that the whole thing has been really hard on all of us. She then said that she realized how important us and the troupe were to her, and that she wants to get back into it. Does she not get that we've moved on to other things? Will I break her heart all over again when I tell her that I'm already with another troupe? Will I have to dance with both troupes to spare her feelings? AGHHH! *pulls hair out*
