Guest Maker Spotlight #3: nyaza

Apr 24, 2013 06:59

We've had the pleasure of seeing some beautiful icons nyaza made for Group Challenge 15, but now it's time for the makers at wonderous_stuff wanted to share a few of the reasons as to why nyaza was chosen to be spotlighted. And maybe praise some stunning icons too!

What can I say about nyaza? I've been a fan for a long time now; back since I was still into Merlin. She's one of those people that just stays consistently awesome no matter what. Which isn't to say her style has evolved immensely because it has and in the best way. Her coloring--the muted tones especially--is amazing and unique. Her text work is brilliant. And her cropping...well, there's a reason I requested a cropping guide from her (by the by, it was magnificent). Love her work, love her as a person. She's an absolute delight.

It's insane how much nyaza has improved in such a short amount of time. Her icons always had beautiful lighting and blending. But lately she's been going more out-of-the-box with her compositions and texture work, her muted coloring is the best it's ever been, and her cropping is simple but effective. I think my favorite technique of hers, though, is the way she uses text, both to emphasize certain moments and as a compositional element to balance out the icon. I'm a sucker for great text and am absolutely jealous of how she can pull it off so well.

nyaza truly has a great eye for cropping. Her icons consistently have amazing and eye-catching crops, especially her close crop icons. Her text work is wonderful and really completes the look of her icons. And I have to say that her muted colouring is to die for! I can't wait to see what beautiful icons nyaza will make for this challenge!

nyaza is one of those makers who uses every pixel in the canvas no matter if she's working a complex composition or a strikingly simple crop and muted coloring. Her style really stands out with its crystalline sharpening and beautiful tones. And her text! The risks she takes with text are so striking and original. I'm so exited to have her as a guest maker!

I am a massive fan of nyaza's cropping and use of text. Her text placement is bold and her crops are fierce. I love how she uses cut-off images to make new compositions, it's very inspiring. Plus her use of shadows, especially on faces is to die for. Her icons are so very strong and I admire her talent greatly. It's fantastic that she is joining us for this challenge!

There is something so incredibly versatile in nyaza's iconing style. If an iconing check list could ever be created, I think she would get ticks (and A+ if we're grading) for almost every element. Cropping - she can do that, both close and wide. Colouring, well she can move beautifully between vibrant and muted, light and dark, making it look easy as pie. Composition, be it simple or complex, it's always stunning. And her texture and text use is always so creative and unique. Basically nyaza can do it all, and with style, and it's been wonderful to have her take part in the most recent challenge!
