i do not know a lot, so these are only my small thoughts. i just couldn't pass your post up without responding. sweetie, i feel that life is much too short.. meaning, we need to live each and every day to the very fullest, with no regrets. if you need help, go to inpatient and get the help you need and deserve. it isnt worth you suffering and wasting your days, when you can be getting help. i think you should sign in and take care of yourself. i wish the best in whatever you decide <3

If you feel like you're in a place where you need preventative help NOW and are not pulling out of this manic phase (at least my uncle is always manic when he doesn't sleep for days on end), then I'd say that perhaps signing yourself in as an inpatient might be a good idea if it's the only way to get the help you need right now. I'm afraid that I can't say anything about whether the aftercare would be covered -- can you ask your benefits advisor at work? or call the health insurance company and ask a "what if?" type question ( ... )

Re-read that and wanted to rephrase a bit.

Yes the free clinics are open during work hours, call out sick and go get your meds. The same insurance that won't cover you until 08 is likely not to cover an in-patient stay either.

If you feel really bad go to an ER and explain the situation. At the very least you can ask for a psych consult and hopefully a social work consult as well.

Lastly if you feel you are REALLY about to spiral out of control or do harm to yourself, then by all means check yourself in.

As far as the "I work during working hours" comment, if your health is that important to you.. I think one day off isn't going to harm anyone.

i see you're in pennsylvania. me too.

i see you're in reading, pennsylvania. me too.

i see you're bipolar. me too.

that said - go to the county assistance office on cherry street in the city. depending on how much you make, and the severity of your condition, they may be able to help you.

if they can't, try SAM - service access management. they're pretty good about helping you find low cost care, or even free if you qualify.

and please heed this advice - if you seek immediate attention, do yourself a favor and go to reading hospital, not st. joe's.. i can tell you that from personal experience. sounds like signing in can benefit you, however. if you've never signed in, reply to my comment here if you'd like information and i can tell you all about three personal experiences i had as inpatient at reading, what doctors are there, and my opinions on them.

small world we live in, isnt it?

i network in reading but i live in allentown... so the SAM stuff wont work cause im not a berks county resident. i did try that though, it seemed awesome. do you have to reside in berks county for the cherry st office?

yep, you have to visit the office that is in your county. however, i'm sure the process is similar. check in your phonebook for the number of your office, every time i have called them, they've been helpful. there is also information on the state website www.state.pa.us click on living in pennsylvania
and there's links there. good luck :)
