A visit to Fort Belvoir

Oct 22, 2014 23:57

So after sleeping for twelve hours Sunday night, I couldn't get to sleep at all last night, so I pulled an all-nighter, shaved, and headed off to Fort Belvoir to see Dr. B. Morning weight at BG were good (374 and 126 respectively) and they drew blood for various labs, about which more anon. Stopped for coffee at the on-post Dunkin and ate the protein bar I'd brought with me and thought briefly about attacking the froggy portals in the vicinity, but it was raining and I was tired and I was supposed to meet a fellow Resistance agent to hand off the Jarvis Viruses I had. Which I did; met him at Metro Park and swapped them viruses for 100 high-end bursters, and then went home via the library.

Pohick didn't have a copy of The Two-Ocean War
, but there's one at Chantilly so I put that on hold. They did have Book 2
and Book 3
of the Mongoliad, so I picked those up, and Rick Atkinson's The Guns at Last Light
, which concludes the trilogy he began with An Army at Dawn
. Someday I'll go back and read the middle volume, which deals with Sicily and the Italian campaign, but they didn't have it there at the time and I was disinclined to look for it.

Came home, ate brunch*, and crashed hard around 1300, sleeping until 2000. Going to go out and do a little Ingress before settling down to blog, I think.

*Noticed in passing that whatever frogs had flipped Keene Mill while I was gone had also snarfed up the three capsules I'd left behind full of resonators and other junk. Good riddance to it.

medical stuff, books, ingress
