Probably is possible to agree with all of them, seeing as I don't think I agree with any of them. Maaaaaybe the pantheist guy, but still that isn't quite right. At least, it isn't how I would phrase it. Number 3 was...close in some regards, but not really entirely.

I guess I just see science as showing how awesome our universe is, and that it is something to be respected, awed, and treated as holy in its own right. You can feel that awe from learning about it scientifically, or just experiencing it. The interdependencies of the universe make it just about as holy as anything I could ever conceive of.

Everything exists beyond our ability to actually see or hear or taste or touch or smell it. Our ability to perceive something doesn't make it exist. Therefore our lack of an ability to perceive something doesn't make it not exist.

I do think existence goes on after death. Your body doesn't disappear. Peoples' memories of you don't disappear. Instead, you become part of something greater...you become part of the universe's spiritual posse, so to speak. Something I have yet to be able to explain properly in words, but makes sense in my brain somehow.

There is some sort of...essence behind everything. I guess that's what my view boils down to. Interconnected essences.

exactly!

I just keep using the wrong words. The physical universe will eventually fizzle out of being. I'm not going to be around because....what is "I" is a perspective from a "body". at the end of life....the memories, experiences, etc....become a part of something much more. a kind of 1+1 in it's own right. That "much more", whatever it is, i have no idea. But i would imagine a lot of it has to do with the interpretation of 'value'.

The universe has been evolving toward complexification. and i think this consiousness thing is where it's at.

I'm reading a book right now (literally just began it. found it disgarded at a mormon "stuff" recycling center) called "personal mythology". and it's by two very awesome psych guys. and i'm eventually going to put a few very neat quotes on the lj about it.

It's very strange going from atheist to whatever i am now. and it's odd because i got there using some serious philosophy and analyzing the way i see reality as an organism...and it's very nice because it works with every belief structure. we tend to see things too concretly. "The" way as opposed to "our way". Every way is a way that works. It's in understanding that "way" where it gets intersting.

But i totally am with you. I'm going to have to blah about this sometime...again.

RIGHT ON.
