The Tiger at the Well

Jan 05, 2013 16:33

So the first fragment of a week in this new year has just about come to its end and it would seem that I yet live. Quite whether it will yet prove to have been the wisest move to schedule the most terrifying and daunting of starts to the year as I did yet remains to be seen but, if nothing else comes of excessive trauma of job assessment stuffs, ( Read more... )

Well, it wasn't tears of expectation so much as frustration at feeling such intsense sensations whilst still being perfectly conscious of their excess. The cognitive dissonance, I suppose you might call it, that is really most aggravating. Still, I'm not sure how tiger proof I yet am, particularly if the mess of a day I just had at the shop is anything to go by. Pretty sure I was purposefully defrauded by a customer returning goods which their old mother had supposedly bought them. They had our price tickets on them but I did think the prices a bit unsually high. Then they claimed to have put a receipt in the bag, but I couldn't find it too quickly and I had people waiting so I put it through without, against my better judgement. Then of course I spent the rest of the day making myself feel worse thinking about it but I also got stuck with another customer with apparently no conception of irony, another bringing in four boxes of some of the most delapidated and useless books imaginable, an unexpected volunteer turning up and expected manager not appearing whilst overall we actually had startlingly few customers at all which only really served to highlight the size of the refund I should have put more thought into giving out. Bleh. Not much fun.

On a more positive side though I did get to hold a butterfly as a little lost tortoiseshell fluttered into the shop and spent some time browsing the books before batting itself against the window. I had delicately scoop up the beast and escorted it back outdoors with it perched upon my finger. I suppose this present mild spell must have roused it from wintry slumbers and I do hopes that putting it out I haven't led it to its demise but such is the way with us delicate butterfly folk I suppose. Really, it's been quite a confusing day all round to be honest. Thinks I'm going to sit quietly in a corner for a while.

Meanwhile though, yes, I'm the one in the middle of the picture in Diablo III. Indeed it is a shiny looking game, they seem to have gone big on the epic and action-packed but sadly forgot to put very much thought into the exploration and character creation that really made Diablo I and II so much fun to keep coming back to. Oh well, there's always Guild Wars 2. Meanwhile, I understand our manager gave CPR to the man much as our swishy TV advertising campaign with Vinnie Jones recommends. Heh, still, we has a little first aid box, but much like security cameras, a defibrillator would seem to be beyond the sort of investment they are willing to make in their shop.

Ah yes, hm, now indeed I do feel much cheerier. Um, well, at least I've never been one to think the week should start on a Sunday so let's say the first full week of year has yet to start and we can go again from the beginning! In the meanwhile though I hopes the world be treating you in more reasonable fashion. *hugs and fluffy paws*

poor butterfly, I hope it found somewhere sheltered to spend it's time after it got stuck in the shop. At least you stopped it from tiring itself out on the glass.

Mr Bethnoir tells me that Diablo III is the first of the series to be taken over by Blizzard who do WoW, so that accounts for the graphics I suppose. As you say, Guild Wars 2 is still there.

Well, we've had an unusual start to the week, what with the man being here gutting our bathroom. We asked him to, but it is a rather sad looking room at the moment, bare floor, walls and only a lonely toilet left until new things arrive tomorrow. Must focus on the how much better it will be, the impressive mould and dust covered spiders webs behind the old suite were not very pretty. Hope the week goes well for you.
