Well I now have recommendations for three mortgage brokers that I will share here just in case anyone else is looking:

Bear in mind I haven't actually contacted them yet, but they all sound good from what people have told me.
I'll be organising appointments with them for this week or next, so hopefully that'll be the financing all under control, then we can look at houses. Yay houses!

On an only partially related note, there has been a Showtime house made. Each room is themed with a different Showtime show. Check out the Dexter themed kitchen!!
