It's 5am, nearing the end of my first night shift (one more night shift to go, then 4 days off! Huzzah!). I am discovering how fun it is to put crazy 4am comments on peoples posts. Bwahahaha.

Akshoslaa and I are buying a house. It's been in the works for awhile, but we are being more active about it now since karlski and sassamifrass moving out means double rent! $$ Oh joy! ^__^

We are very early in the proceedings so far. I have recommendations for 3 mortgage brokers, so I am going to organise meetings with them before we decide who we are going to go with.

We are still discussing what area we are looking at. So far the Maddington/Kelmscott/Gosnells kind of area is looking like the winner, but I still want to research and explore other options. We have gone to a bunch of home opens, but that's the part I really enjoy, whereas the loan getting is the part that scares me. Because of this, I've decided to focus on the loan part to get that out of the way before I return to immersing myself in possible abodes.

Our savings are virtually nil, I know that this means we'll be paying heaps more in mortgage insurance and the like, but it really has come time for us. We've been discussing this for quite a while, and it's a pretty good time to do it considering what's happened with the housing market recently. It's just time, so we are willing to put up with the extra costs.

Between $200,000 and $300,000 is the plan, but obviously that will be discussed heaps more with the mortgage broker.

Anyways... it's all terribly exciting and scary, but awesome scary. Feel free to throw your suggestions, advice and recommendations my way!

I am so looking forward to bidding farewell to rent inspections and property managers, or at least to being on the receiving end of them (admittedly I do like rent inspections for forcing me to do a full cleanup every 3 months. I think I will be much more inclined to keep things spic and span when it's my house (yay for pride of ownership!). However, I think I will have a three monthly party that will be named the "rent inspection", which gives me an excuse to do a periodical thorough cleanup)!

Yay for painting walls however I want to.
Yay for being able to make changes without asking.
Yay for blutack!
Yay for 5 in the morning!
