16 to 21 April

16 April

Happy Dead Person Day. I'd have said happy chocolate egg day but most of what they sell is inedible for me - unless I want a killer headache! I did succumb once I was in the Watson IGA and saw their special offer on a box of Kinder Surprises. I got a new 'Cybertop' [making a total of six out of twelve so far], an animé cat and a jigsaw of a monster. I like the spooky trees on the box. They look like fun.

Just raised an interesting question with PT as he was helping mend my wooden darning mushroom. He had just said something about the glue needing to go off when I realised that when it comes to building/mending a number of things, to have something 'go off' [e.g. glue, cement etc.] is a good thing but when it comes to other things [food, humans...], for them to go off is baaaad. English is such a weird language!
Had sadness on my way home from Dickson shops via Watson shops today. Heard a keening sound and saw I pile of whiteness at the bottom of a tree in the park. I went over to examine it, thinking, hoping, that it was an injured bird that could be rescued. Alas, this was not to be so. The poor thing was dead, to all appearances by natural causes but that didn't stop its friend in the tree from mourning for it. That is the second time I can recall hearing a bird in mourning and it is a sound that goes straight to the heart.
Finished the hem on my purple sari last night. Just need to decorate one end for the pallau now. Also darned my first ever pair of socks. [Yes, I have darned before, just not socks.] I think a darning egg would definitely make sock darning easier. I couldn't get an even stretch over the mushroom. Where I'll ever find a darning egg though, I have no idea.
Also discovered what I thought was a box of blank floppy disks was actually a box of disks with something on them, mainly text so I'll have to allocate some time to read through them.

"Oh piffle" she inelegantly exclaimed as a fragment of her so-called memory inexorably dragged itself from her excuse for a brain and forced itself upon her attention. "I knew there was another reason I wanted to wake Baby up from her comatose state. I wanted the 'Day-runner' page template from the Claris Organiser." {ref - journal entry 7 Apr}

Aaaaargh, spit! Does anyone have a Day-runner style template for 'OpenOffice' that would negate me having to create one from scratch? I just need a basic 10 x 17 cm blank page so that I can turn my movie and booklists into something manageble. Or rather what I have of the lists that isn't also trapped in Baby's hard drive. Oh, and to be able to set it up so that I don't have to do weird lots of cut and pastes to be able to print the lists off double-sided and more than one 'page' per sheet of paper. I don't mind cutting out the pages if I have to but the length of the lists make that much cutting and pasting confusing. I know - I'm lazy.

Bert has the cutest trick. He stands on his back feet and grabs your hand so that he can head butt it. He also sometimes grabs your hand if you are stroking his belly and does the same thing. We had a good game of 'chase the end of a stick' today also. He's come a long way from the cat that used to run away from me, now, when he sees me, he calls out and comes to me instead even if I haven't spotted him.

Do you know how difficult it is to type when the tip of one of your middle fingers is wrapped in a bandage? I tore a nail back in a nasty way and when I was trimming it, I accidentally snipped the quick. Big owies!

21 April 2:16 amish

I thought of a way to commit suicide after I woke up yesterday. It was flawed in two ways but other than that, it would most likely work. The flaws - Finding a resort based on a hot water spring that was suitably located and having to be very careful about the timing so as to avoid discovery too early. Is it strange when, if we are to believe the often quoted 'fact' on TV, instead of thinking of poison, as apparently most women do, I think of ways that tend to involve blades and/or other sharp edges?
I have this 'creeping' feeling on one small spot on my head. It's like something, an insect, is repeatedly crawling over it but there is nothing there. It is very annoying and I'm hoping that it is just my hair telling me that it needs a wash tomorrow [or rather later today].

Phooey! As already noted, my plans for Sunday night include recording 'Main Hoon Na'. However, I have just discovered that 'Gosford Park will be on at the same time. Triple spit! Oh for having two VCRs.
