We finally gave up yesterday when a flood restoration person came over and told us that even with his bigger machine, there was no way that we'd be able to keep up with the amount of water involved. He also told us that we're very lucky that we have a very good drain in the laundry room that is taking all the water and all the rooms are sloping towards the drain. The water flow is enough that in transitioning from the living room to the kitchen, the water is rippling.
I made it to sleep at about noon.
It does seem that we got off rather light. Very little damage; it seemed to route around the books and tv on the floor until they were picked up. There is a little water damage to
beamishboy's Marvel Hobgoblin standie but it's not very visible. There might be some damage to the furniture, that will have to wait and see.
I do have to call the landlord and let him know that the dryer is no longer spinning though. Many towels were dried before this happened. The landlord also let u s know that we should get the place cleaned up by professionals and either deduct it from the rent or he'll reimburse us. Yay! Good landlord. He also knows that he's going to need to replace the flooring.
Much empathy and sympathy to the others out there with similar problems.
