Car Updates

Oct 10, 2008 21:19

Well its about time I put some update on this lil fiasco. The pressure caps failed sadly, it alleviated the problem to start with. But now the car is still dumping coolant when it gets hot and proceeding to empty its self.. due to it being a rotary engine they run very hot to start with this causes a bit of a cascade effect the car over heats faster now with cavities in the system and as a result pushs the coolant out faster.

Net result I've broken down 3 times this week.. The first time on the jolly M62 (i got to look at some interesting items on the hard shoulder, hargendas from 05 anybody?)  And twice today! I've got a few test to do tomorow morning but after finding a peice of rubber in the filler neck its looking quite terminal! There is a slim chance it could be a coolant seal on the turbos but thats a bloody slim chance. Although it might explain the complete lack of typical blown rotor housing symptoms, No white smoke at startup or idle, or firing on one rotor due to a flooded chamber, she fires first time, every time.

Tried phoning around friends but nobody has a coolant pressure tester of the twist cap kind only screw so I'm going to have to rig something up in that department... and i plan on cranking the engine by paw to see if i get a face full of coolant out of the lower sparkplug holes. if it passes that test... well god knows im going to have to look elsewhere for the cause.

Wish me luck... or wish me good rebuilds.
