You know, it really pisses me off, when authors use this sort of, "And suddenly, the hero becomes a complete idiot for a few hours!" type ploy to push a plot forward. Shouldn't editors be watching for weak shit like that in published works

Clones are good. Anything that can touch on genes and biotech is pretty 'in' right now, (to the point that Crichton can slap a 5 or 600 page political thesis about gene patents, with a weak plot, and hit the best seller list...).
My one-third finished quasi-smut-fest of a book last year (or was it the year before?) has spawned a lot of other ideas in my head - the world kinda took off for me - that I haven't gotten to develop at all. Any of them might make a good Nano (potentially ironic, given nano-tech is part of my theme lately), so I'm probably going to get involved. Hopefully writing in the form of 'word vomit' will be something I can do at work, even with people bothering me. If so, I'll have more than enough time, even if any serious writting (or editing) would have to wait for home.
