Karmic Realignment Complete

Well, I'm back in the real world again, or at least, on my way there. Brief stop-over in Wolfville to be babied a bit by my parents (you know, because I've been a house-guest and consequently been cooked for and catered to for the last 9 days, so I obviously deserve a bit of babying) and to go to Suman's birthday dinner before heading back to the city and getting my baby dog, so I can baby him and make up for having abandoned him at Jenn's... Where he has had 10 days of pissing off Trooper by stealing his toys, shedding on hard wood floors, and being walked all over kingdom come with occasional hours of fetching sticks at the citadel. So really, I'll have to baby him to make up for showing up and making him come back to Dartmouth with me.

Since I last posted, I got to visit the Science World (excuse me, Telus World of Science. Telus and Starbucks have entirely taken over the west coast, along with asian symbol writing due to the high population of Chinese and Japanese. All things Canadian like Tim Hortons and English have been etched off of the face of the city) where I had a lot of fun with mirrors, and discovered that I fail at making good alpha waves. We went to the planetarium, (which I must pronounce Plane'arium, due to South Park) and took in a standard plane'arium show, as well as a trip to Mars in a virtual reality pod thingy (Basically a big computer generated screen of things going wheeeeee while your seat tilts you around. Like a rollercoaster with no actual falling. Me likee). And a walk through a beach park that was teeming with off leash dogs, all playing with each other and having a fantastic time. And more hanging out with Ivy, who seems very much her old self, and whom it was wonderful to get to hug again, and taking Benn's friend Jen from Bowen Island to Build-A-Bear and vicariously building a bear through helping her. There was rental of a car, which made the rain more bearable, and recovery from my cold. There was also a random, seat-of-the-pants trip to Whistler, which makes for a very good story, which I would not dream of robbing from
bcdm because he is very much looking forward to making THAT post, and I wouldn't want to make it redundant. So keep an eye out for that story, coming soon.

And now for the concept of karmic realignment. It makes a lot of sense. The idea is that no one person can be tooo happy. It offends the gods or something. So therefore, for every piece of good luck, there is some tempering bad luck, to make sure things don't get too positive. For example, I have a lovely vacation seeing friends I haven't spent time with in a couple of years, and having nerdy trips to sciency places in sunshiney weather, and so of course I have to get sick. My flight was actually running early upon arrival to Vancouver, so of course Benn encountered construction on his way out to meet me. My flight ran on time on the way back, allowing me to make a VERY tight connection at Pearson, so I had no time to eat, and when I went to Tim Horton's upon my arrival in Halifax, six people walked into the empty Tim's a second ahead of me, resulting in a fifteen minute wait in line. I had a great time in Vancouver, so I'm sure the next month or so will probably suck ass. That's okay. These pieces of bad luck are NOT bad luck. They are simply the things you need to expect if you are going to be getting some GOOD luck. So rather than get annoyed when perfection is constantly marred by these things, I will welcome them.

you know you're in vancouver when..., benn, my life (in a nutshell), boasting and shouting, odin, ivy, jenn
