Greetings from the West Coast

As most of you know, I am currently in Vancouver visiting friends. It feels really good to be on vacation - haven't had a proper vacation in years. Things are pretty busy, as I've been trying to fit a gazillion things into a limited amount of time. So far, I've been to Bowen Island, walked the Capilano Bridge, visited the Aquarium, watched March of The Penguins, The Castle and The Curse of the Were-Rabbit, spent a lot of time walking through Vancouver, including Stanley Park, and played a lot of Chez Geek, which is a foolish card game. Have seen a lot of Ivy - we met her at a cafe called Death By Chocolate, which serves all chocolate desserts. I had a chocolate crepe filled with apples and berries and slathered in chocolate sauce. Ivy came back to Benn's with us, and we ended up playing Chez Geek so late into the night that she crashed here. The next day we all went to the Aquarium and I got to oooh and ahh at the Beluga trainors (ahem, I mean, the Belugas) and the little sea otter which did, indeed, do cute little human things with its hands. That was a full day unto itself. Traveling takes a long time because we have to bus everywhere, but it's giving me a good tour of Vancouver.

The weather has been fairly cooperative, with a brisk breeze but warm sun. That is over now, and Vancouver is done with trying to impress me. It has relaxed to its normal rainy drizzly self. Me, I've been drizzly myself because I (OF COURSE) caught a cold on the plane, so I've spent the entire time sneezing, watery eyed, and dripping mucous over everything. That's not ka-blamo, really. I also think I've probably gained a million pounds, but that's what vacation is for, right?

Anyway, I should go dry my hair and get ready for the day. Planetarium or science world may be on the list (woot!)

Hope you're all having good times, I'm thinking of y'all

you know you're in vancouver when..., benn, my life (in a nutshell), ivy
