Character Information

General
Canon Source: Harry Potter (Also, I, like Sirius's mun, draw a lot of characterization for a younger Remus from >The Shoebox Project, and also draw a lot from Stealing Harry.)
Canon Format: Novels
Character's Name: Remus John Lupin
Character's Age: 17

What form will your character's NV take? As Sirius and Remus are pulled from the same time in canon, I think that it would make the most sense for Remus' NV to take the same form as Sirius'. This text is copied from Sirius' application (I hope that's okay.): In book 5, Sirius gives Harry that little mirror with which he will apparently be able to contact him. Headcanon says that the Marauders used similar means to contact each other (sort of like those DA coins Hermione designs), so his NV will take the form of a little mirror (something like this). It will need to be open to use the video function, but there will be little buttons around the hinges that will allow for the audio capability. Texts will show up on the surface of the mirror, and another button around the hinges will perform a voice-to-text function for him, should he want to use it.

Abilities
Character's Canon Abilities: Remus is a wizard, and has the ability to perform quite a few different forms of magic. He's particularly adept at Defence spells (including Jinxes, Hexes, Curses, and on the opposite side, Healing spells), and is therefore a good man to have on your side in a pinch. He's also adept at Charms (spells that add to or change the properties of an object), and Transfiguration (changing an object into something else (note: Charms change what an object does, while Transfiguration changes what an object is)). At school he's also taken classes in Potions (the brewing of magical mixtures), which he's not particularly adept at. Here's A Complete Reference for Magic in Harry Potter and a complete list of spells in the series for further reference on what exactly Remus is capable of. Remus also suffers from lycanthropy, which causes him to transform into wolf upon the complete rising of the full moon. He is a werewolf. While in wolf form he is stronger and faster and very deadly. He has no control over his actions and will attack any human nearby, even if it were his best friend. A werewolf's victims usually die, but if they survive, they will also be infected with the disease, and transform into the same bloodthirsty beast once a month. Remus takes special care to restrain himself during the full moons, but he's still always terrified that he'll break loose one day and hurt someone. Here's more information about werewolves in the Harry Potter universe, for further reference on the transformation. It's my headcanon that because of his lycanthropy, which includes the extremely painful transformations from human to wolf, he is able to heal from injuries much faster than a normal person. This faster metabolism also means that it takes a great deal of alcohol to get him drunk, so much so that he doesn't bother. He is affected by...other substances, however. He also can withstand magical attacks that normal wizards wouldn't. Although he will never test it on purpose, it is said that a werewolf can withstand a Killing Curse, as long as it doesn't hit his heart.
Weapons: The only weapon Remus needs is his wand, and he has a whole array of Jinxes, Hexes, and Curses at his disposal (reference above). In werewolf form he is equipped with sharp teeth, claws, and the Lycanthropy virus, which can be spread through a bite. This is only true of when he is in werewolf form. The rest of the time, Remus isn't contagious.

History/Personality/Plans/etc.
Character History: Remus John Lupin was born on March 10, 1960. While he was very young, four or five years old, he was bitten by werewolf Fenrir Greyback. Greyback was a particularly vicious werewolf who attacked people on purpose on full moons. He chose Remus in particular because of some slight Remus' father had given the werewolf. Remus doesn't remember a whole lot from the time before he was bitten except for that they had a much nicer house and that his mother had smiled a lot more often. His parents poured all their savings and put all of their time and effort into attempting to find a cure for their son, to no avail. Greyback's aim in attacking people, particularly children, was in an attempt to create a werewolf army to rise above the wizards. Because of this, the regulations concerning werewolves are particularly strict. Remus has been registered with the Ministry of Magic as a Dark Creature since he was six. One regulation clearly states that werewolves cannot attend Hogwarts. A safety concern, you see. But Remus wasn't a feral child, raised in the woods by a bloodthirsty Greyback; Remus was a bright, resilient, humble boy who showed a talent for magic. Well. And who his parents had to lock in their shed one night a month so his body could rip itself apart and rearrange itself into a slavering beast. Locked up, he would only tear at his own flesh, and wouldn't infect anyone in the nearby countryside with this terrible disease. But...he wanted to go to Hogwarts. He met with Headmaster Albus Dumbledore and the headmaster determined that Remus deserved to attend the school. See Remus' HP Wiki Page for the rest of his history, following his admittance to Hogwarts.
Point in Canon: Right before beginning his seventh year at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry.

Character Personality: Remus is quiet and smart, although not as naturally brilliant as James and Sirius. He loves to read, both magical and muggle literature, he absolutely adores chocolate of all kinds, but the darker, the better. He's very self-conscious about the scars from his transformation, particularly the bite mark on his thigh. He tries very hard not to draw attention to himself and often wears embarrassing things like tweed or cable-knit jumpers. His friends make fun of him for dressing like an old man. He's bright and charming, though, once you break through that wall. He thinks of James as sort of an older brother who looks out for him. Peter is the comic relief, and Sirius...Sirius is complicated. Remus has always felt a little closer to Sirius than the other boys, and not in a brotherly love sort of a way. He hides these feelings the way he hid his lycanthropy. But they are nearly just as difficult to ignore. He'll never say anything, though.
Character Plans: I'm not quite sure, yet! I'm excited to play with your Sirius and put Remus into this brilliant setting!

Appearance/PB: PB is singer Sondre Lerche

Writing Samples

First Person Sample [voice to Sirius]
I'm...really not quite sure of where I am or what's going on at the moment, but. I'm certainly not in London anymore. I thought I saw some movement on your mirror...but I suppose you're not paying attention. I didn't even know we could leave messages with these mirrors. Have I been asleep for a very long time, or something? Perhaps we've time traveled or...I don't know. I've got a splitting headache, Padfoot, and I'd really like to crash on your sofa. Assuming you've got a sofa. Maybe we've ended up in The Swiss Family Robinson and people live in treehouses. Although judging by my surroundings right now it's more likely you're living in a hole in the wall somewhere as Padfoot, begging for scraps. [A pause. He's breathing is slightly labored with anxiety.] All joking aside, Sirius. Are you here somewhere? Please be here.

Third Person Sample
One moment Remus was sitting at the desk in his room at his parents' house, writing a letter to Sirius, and the next it was like someone had, out of nowhere, pulled him by a bungee cord out of his chair. He was extremely disoriented for a moment, and then falling, and he landed on an empty baseball diamond, fairly belly-flopping. With some effort, he turned himself over on to his back, assessing his injuries, and internally panicking. What just happened? Had he touched a portkey? Who would have put a portkey in his bedroom? Was it in Sirius' letter? Would Sirius have sent him a portkey? He pushed himself into a sitting position, the movement making his body protest, although he could already feel the broken ribs knitting back together. He had a splitting headache, though, and that wasn't going to go away. He surveyed his surroundings. Welcome signs? What was going on. He patted his breast pocket almost desperately, immensely relieved to find that his wand had made it here with him, and that the fall hadn't broken it. He withdrew it, and just having the weight of it in his hand gave him a little more confidence to stand and face whatever had just happened to him. And was still happening. And with his luck...would continue to happen for a very long time.
