So,

I'm not behind!  Yay!  That means I'm doing better than last quarter at this time.

I had my history class, and I guess we have a test next Wednesday... and I need to check on my counterpoint class to make sure I do my assignments on time...

But, I had my composition lesson, and I think my instructor is decently pleased with my orchard piece.  I'm writing it for string quintet and wind quintet, which means:

2 violins
1 viola
1 cello
1 contrabass (double bass)

1 flute
1 oboe
1 clarinet
1 bassoon
1 horn in F (french horn)

and I'm about four staves into it, which equates to roughly 24 ish measures.  But, since the tempo is so slow, that makes it about a minute and a half, more or less.  I also have ideas about the overall structure of the piece, and so it should come together quite nicely by the end.

Anyway.  After that, I had my break from 1-2.  2 o'clock was choir, which was decently engaging and somewhat fun (typical of choir).  3 o'clock was piano class, which was quite boring (also typical).  Piano at 4 was actually... not bad.  I mean, I was learning what I consider rather sophisticated details of how to play what might on the outside seem like a relatively simple piece.  It also helped that I had the bulk of it memorized when I played it, so I wasn't strictly admonished once again to practice more (and so, that makes piano lessons today somewhat atypical).

Anyway, I had been rather lonely today, but I had a nice chat with Jenn, and she wants me to come over on Saturday and watch Star Wars with her.  So at least I have something to look forward to.  And of course, band practice is great too; that should be Friday.  It's a little more difficult to get *into* it as much, because it seems like too often we're just playing through something so that someone can learn it better with us, or like we're just teaching people things, instead of actually getting deep into it and enjoying playing it.

Sometimes it seems like all the progress we make is just cancelled by other set-backs.  It's rather annoying.

But... I feel ok at the moment.  Not great, but ok.  (and my lower back hurts *rubs*)

O yeah, and it looks like I'll be playing the celeste for orchestra on one of their pieces.  I kinda think it'll be fun.
