It sure has been a while since I've been here. Sorry, I seem to be neglecting updating things lately. I also don't remember what I last wrote about, so I'll shoot out whatever comes to mind.
So, yesterday was my first bikeride since my surgery. I started at St. Matts (because my bike is stashed in the garage there among other things,) and first went to the high school. After I shot around the parking lot scaring random people in random cars, I decided to take a quick ride down Hines. That ended up being fun. That's also when I suddenly was reminded that my brakes don't have anything near the capability of saving my life, but that's ok, phantom brakes won't stop me. Literally. I made a rather muddy mess of myself, and Gary (my mom's boss) laughed when he saw what I did to my bike. Good times.
Today I decided that, instead of a joyride, I'd get some distance under my wheels. I started off at St. Matts again and took a two and a half hour-ish trip to Cass Benton and back. I was so astonished and proud that I made it there that I started tearing up a smidge. That's the first real thing I've done since before Christmas, and I did it, even though throughout the entire ride I was giving myself random pep-talks. I was also discouraged because of some strong hunger pains I had for pretty much the entire ride. I didn't arrive back at St. Matts til it was decently dark outside, at which time I ate twice as much for dinner than usual. I'm just glad it didn't rain. (I'm also surprised I made it back, but I didn't say that just now.)
Almost every day after school, Alex and I have had at least one adventure for any given day. Sooner or later we're going to get them all down in writing, so whenever you want to read an occasional stupid story, you'll be able to. Isn't that exciting? You know it is. I'll keep you posted.
Before the dance last Saturday, a group of us went to see Pink Panther. If you happen to be a person that has a stupid sense of humor, you'll love it. What does that mean? That means, if you're like me, you'll love it too.
For the past almost two weeks, I've been psyched about my camera and I've been taking pictures of a plethera of things. I just thought I'd throw that in here since it's keeping my mind occupied as of late.
I have another hobby now as well. I've started writing again. We'll see how long that lasts, if it does at all. *wonders of Mr. Weier reads this at all, doubts it*
So we had a track meeting today. It was at this time that I realized I'm super excited for track, even though I won't be able to run at first. Most of the team consists of younglings, but hopefully they'll make good contributions in their own ways. Because, well, we really need the boost.
When Clark was handing around the sign-up sheet, I wrote, "I'll throw anything until I can run everything." That sums it up nicely methinks.
I've been remembering some of my dreams lately. All of them deal with running in one way or another. With the intention of not depressing myself in this area of my life, I have no further comments here.
I think I'm catching a cold. Boo!
Anybody have a pair of wings that they're willing to lend me?
