I spent the evening swimming with the Suliers last night, and as we were going through your usual list of pool games (Sharks and Minnows, Wave Pool, etc), we came across a traditional favorite: Marco Polo. Over the years we've become bored with the European version, so being the cultured group that we are, we collectively decided to play the Japanese version: Ichi Bang. Here are the rules if you're ever bored in the pool:
While swimming, the "it" person must called out "Moshi moshi?" to which the fellow swimmers reply "Ichi Bang!" in high-pitched voices. (Suggestion: try not to also laugh when you are saying this, especially while in the deep end, you begin to take on water through the mouth passage and it slows your escape) The fish out of water rule is still applicable, but is now referred to as "Sushimi". And if you are tagged or have tagged someone, it is common practice for both of you to shout "NAGASAKI!" repeatedly. (Ex: "I just got Nakasaki'd!") You may also want to agree on the "Tune in Tokyo" rule, which allows the "it" person to open their eyes underwater. You can present this option at the beginning of the game by asking "Tune in Tokyo?" while turning your nipples inward like dials on a transistor radio.
