The "plot" thickens.

So our daft heroine, like so many other wet washrag Harlequin female leads, has a SEKRIT PAST OF EVIL. Or so the foreshadowing would have you believe. There are "dark places" in her past that she fears her would-be employer, Aaron, will discover and shun her. She has no life, of course, because Love Inspired heroines aren't allowed to do things like to go bars and talk to men. She's a nanny, a nice, feminine occupation that isn't taking a job away from a man, because taking care of kiddies is lady work. And...suspense building...she writes three letters a week to...someone.

"I pray you always have people in  your life who love and care about you. I wish you a full life. I'm sorry I might have taken that away. I pray for you every day. Not a day goes by that I don't think about you and wonder how you are. I'm sorry for my choice beyond what words can say. With love, Sarah."
So, that's the dark past. I have a few guesses. First, Sarah Poppins had TEH EVIL PREMARITAL SEXING and got pregnant (as you do). So she gave the baby up, because Love Inspired heroines do not have the abortions. Or she did TEH EVIL DRINKING and killed someone while driving drunk (there is less evidence to support this) and is writing letters to the person's eight orphaned children. Also, she lives in a motel, which is kind of shady, right? Any guesses as to the big dark secret that this godly Air Force daddy will eventually find out and have to search his heart over?
