the script, palace theatre, melbourne 05/10/10
danny's voice. just. wow. i can't even put in words how good it sounds- just. picture this: a knife sliding smoothly over a slab of rich butter, and then that butter melting in a hot pan.
(i know it sounds ridiculous, but yes, that's exactly how his voice sounded like to me.)
the script are a relatively unknown band responsible for the amazing singles the man who can't be moved and breakeven. (i have had people go "who?" to me when i mention the band name, but go "ohhh THAT SONG, I LOVE IT" when i mention either of these two, lol)
i remember screaming when i found out that the script were going to be playing here, and then quick as a flash, yesterday rolled around, and el and i were just blown away. blown. away.
what makes it even better is that the three blokes are some of the nicest musicians out there. i met Danny and Glen two years ago when they were still relatively unknown in Malaysia after they played at the MTV Music Awards (and subsequently made our heads explode), and they were hilarious and utterly gracious and adorable. i'd definitely recommend trying to meet them because unless they have tight security people with them, you won't be disappointed.
highlights/random stuff of/about the night:
1) THEY FUCKING PLAYED RUSTY HALO. I JUST CAN'T. omg. i screamed the loudest when they played this because i clearly wasn't expecting it. holy shit.
2) i definitely think Malaysian crowds are much more crazier than Australian crowds are. definitely proven after three concerts. it made me miss how we'd sing along to every single word and wave our hands in the air instead of standing there and smiling and commenting on how good they are. there was chatter even through the slow songs. annoyed me a little bit.
3) Mark making fun of Danny's drunkdialing before they played Nothing.
Mark: you know, when Danny here gets drunk, he drunk dials people on his phone- how many of you do that now, hands up!
*people put their hands up*
Mark: you guys with your hands up, you're awesome, and those who have their hands down, you're fucking liars, all of you. (LOL) now Danny here- he tells me "Mate, I called her yesterday and we went out and stuff" and i go, "No mate, what are you talking about? You drunk dialed her and fucking fell asleep on the couch!"
*Danny bows his head bashfully and pouts a little*
Mark: sorry mate, s' the truth!
FUCKING LOL. JUST. THAT MOMENT WAS SO PRECIOUS.
4) during the opening to Science & Faith the lights- every time Glen hit the drums, an orange light would light him up and then fade away- i just cannot describe this moment in words, seriously. wow. wow wow wow wow.
5) Danny kneeling and grabbing some girl's hand and singing into her eyes for a verse of a song HOLY MOTHER OF GOD I HATE THAT PERSON SO MUCH SERIOUSLY I'D DIE.
6) Glen smiled and waved at me! he was fairly quiet during the entire thing and everybody was screaming for Danny at the end so instead i turned to Glen and yelled his name and he saw me and waved, and did this little nod with his head. just. omg.
7) I'm Yours. wow.

one of my favorite pictures of the night
glen being a BAMF on the drums. (i later found out he was just as BAMFlike on acoustic guitar. and holy mother, his HARMONIZING. god, i can't love this man enough.)
mark- i couldn't really photograph him much since a ton of people were in my way. but i didn't know he did all the rapping in the band- and damn, this man can rap. not to mention, he's fucking hilarious.
my second favorite picture of the night.
