Executive producer; he hated that title. It implied a position of much greater influence than he had. It confused people on his job description and his relation to other producers. In reality, all it meant for him was being the face of the show to make it easier to sell, nothing more and nothing less. He lent his name so that Dan could get the show picked up, just like Drew had done thanks to the success of their own show. But that´s mostly where his sphere of influence ended.
The guys would sometimes come to him to complain about their screen time, games, co-workers or a hundred other things, expecting him to use his executive producer power to make their voices heard and change things. But he couldn´t do that, he didn´t have enough pull for that. Sure, Dan called him to join auditions for new performers but he was more of an adviser or a fellow comedian to play off of than have any major vote. It pained him to explain to the others that he couldn´t really help them. It pained him to see the disappointment and buried anger in their eyes.
