Post 28: Home Sweet Home

First full day being back home in LI for Spring Break. I came home Friday, unpacked my stuff and set up my recording gear, which I was really excited to do because I now have my "studio" set up. I got a keyboard -- turns out I didn't need another piece to get MIDI sounds, I'm just using the sounds from the keyboard itself -- and a guitar pedal along with my guitar, a mic... I'm finally set. This week, that's what I plan on doing really -- recording like crazy and getting my ideas on wax. I'm excited

After I got packed and settled, I went and played basketball, like I normally do on Fridays when I'm home. Man, was I on fire. I don't know, I just felt much more confident yesterday; maybe because it was good to be home, maybe because I was still on a high from making it back home... maybe I've met someone too (?) Anyway, shooting for me has been an acquired taste. I've always made my bones on defense, hustle -- just the little things that nobody else does. I clean up the mess. Now, I've almost completely transformed into a shooter. During warmups, I was making threes from everywhere on the court. It was scary, like I had never been that hot before in a game or at any other time in my career. Then in the first game, while I missed my first three, I came back and made my next three, all stop-and-pops, my new favorite weapon. First game, we blew 'em out like 45-20. Everybody was just making shots. The next game, I got tired, two of the other guys who were carrying the team both had a bum finger apiece, and the other two weren't really doing much either. I was hot, still had a lot left in the tank, so I tried to carry the team... ok, maybe I did a little too much but could ya blame me? We didn't win the second game but I gave it my best shot. I'm still just stunned by how well I shot, considering I haven't really exercised much all semester -- one time -- nor have I played basketball up in UNH at all. I was expecting to be out-of shape, huffin' and puffin', sore as shit... just the usual... and it was the complete opposite. I had a confidence boost, that's the only explanation I can come up with.

Saturday, the first full day I've had since I've been back. I saw 16 Blocks, which was a surprisingly good movie. I mean, it was already good but the ending was really good. I was truly impressed with it as I didn't see it coming at all. Then I went to the mall. My favorite hangout, Sam Goody, is closing, which totally sucks. On the bright side though, everything's like 40% - 60% off, so everything's damn near dirt cheap. I got two t-shirts, a CD and a DVD. The shirts were like 5 dollars when they would have been like $15. After that, Smackdown from 8-10 and Impact @ 11... then I'm here. I'm tempted to record again but I feel like sleeping right now. I've got the whole week to record stuff, which I plan on doing.
