As of yesterday, I am totally current with all of my email and all of my social networking sites.
!Yaays!
Alright, let's be clear about what, exactly, that means. ;)
I have five different email accounts, including my work email. Of those accounts, my main personal one was backed up to the 4,000 count, and my work email was backed up to about 1,000. Another account only had a few hundred messages, and the other two go largely unused at all.
Yes, I still used all of these accounts successfully -- but I've always had the bad habit of paying attention to the incoming mail, and not sorting or deleting old mail. This led....to some congestion. Fixing this now is the first time I've managed this feat -- evar.
I had to go back to July 20th to get totally caught up on my LiveJournal and Facebook accounts. This was particularly challenging, since those two sites really don't populate the Friends Lists beyond about a week -- which means I had to open up the pages of the people I knew, individually, and scroll back through their sites manually to see what had been going on. Yipes! Very fail, LJ and FB. There's no reason the actual Friends Pages couldn't go back indefinitely. They're just lazy on the coding and frugal with their server resources, IMHO. ;) Perhaps this is just my special little torture as payment for having been away so long? Lesson learned, I think. ;p
So, hurrah! I'm super-organized now, and I've got up to speed with everything, and responded to all individual messages I've had and to any other posts that it seemed relevant to do so. ^.^
I'm starting to think, that in order to adequately manage a social networking site, to a degree, you have to actually sort of live on that social networking site. Crazy. 0.o Who would've thought?
In order to accomplish this, myself, I'm starting to think of online networking as a sort of personal discipline -- something that gets wrapped up in my schooling, work, and spiritual studies... Hrrm. Interesting. One more thing to add to my daily practice..... ^.^ Lol.
