1. Name: Alison
2. Age (no one under 13, please): 16
3. Location: DC
4a. Three positive adjectives to describe yourself: competitive, realistic, perceptive
4b. Three negative adjectives to describe yourself: blunt, emotional, paranoid
5. If you could live anywhere in the world for one year, where would you go, and why?: Probably Japan despite the fact that I would starve. I've always found Japanese history and culture fascinating. It would be amazing to spend time in someplace that's just so different from what I'm used to. The fangirl answer is that I'm rather obsessed with aspects of Japanese pop culture ie anime/manga, gothic lolita, and music.
6. Explain the significance/meaning/origin of your username: Well, it mainly sprung from a moment when I was like "oooh, this sounds pretty! Let's use it!" and general obnoxiousness. But yes, I suppose I chose it because purple is my favorite color and amethyst is a fun way to say purple. Lord knows why I chose wind because that is most certainly not my element but hey, I was young and just thought it sounded nice.
7. What's your favourite holiday, and why?: Christmas, probably. It's one of the few holidays where I can see all of my family and I'm big on family so that's rather nice. Slightly more shallow reasons: presents and winter. (I like the cold better than the heat, thank you very much)
8. Favourite three books (besides Harry Potter):
Battle Royale. The English translation was rather horrible, really, but I still adored the book. The whole plotline was intriguing- if not incredibly dark- and the characters were easy to like. It's amazing how the author managed to have 40 some fully fleshed out characters that are completely different but that's besides the point. You really get attached to the characters, even if you see that character only for a chapter.
The Historian is another one. While it's rather confusing at times, it's an incredibly well written book with a compelling plotline. It's refreshing to have a book on vampires and the likes without being totally fangirly or Anne Rice. The whole perspective on this subject matter is rather original and I like the historical twist.
Finally, Prey or anything by Michael Crichton, for that matter. It's thrilling and impossible to put down and I adore the subject matter; I'm a dork and find nanotechnoloy amazingly interesting.
9. What is or was your favourite and or best subject in school? Probably algebra, mainly because I've always been good at math. Of course, I do find it a interesting subject and math has always come fairly easy to me. I was always the kid who could solve a puzzle in minutes and I was obsessed with logic puzzles especially so it isn't really a surprise that I'm a fan of math. English is right up there too because our class is just so much fun. Plus I'm good at writing essays and BSing my way through things and I tend to enjoy things I'm good at; I don't really see a point in enjoying something that you're either horrible at or destined to fail.
10. If you could ask JKR one question, what would it be? Truthfully, there isn't really anything I'm desperate to know at the moment. I'm sure I'll have questions after the 7th book but at the moment, I've got nothing. Besides, I like figuring things out for myself and coming to my own conclusion.
11. Which of the Harry Potter books thus far was your favourite, and why?: Probably Goblet of Fire. I really liked the whole idea of the triwizard tournament and it was interesting learning about the others schools. The plot line was far darker and more complex than the previous books so I really enjoyed that. Nothing was expected and all the twists and turns kept me hooked. And another fangirly answer: Cedric. I have far more Puff pride than I should so I was quite happy to see a strong Hufflepuff character.
12. If you could have the power to perform one spell, and only one spell, absolutely flawlessly for the rest of your life, what would it be and why? Half of me wants to say some super nifty jinx or charm but that wouldn't really be all that practical. I'll go with accio, then. It's an incredibly useful spell and I can be rather lazy at times so it would be nice to just say a spell and whatever I'm looking for would come.
13. What House do you honestly think you’d end up in, and why?: Slytherin, mostly likely. For starters, I'm incredibly competitive in absolutely everything slash ambitious. I don't like to lose and I'm a horrible loser as anyone on my volleyball team will tell you. (Honestly, I'd sit their pouting or screaming if we were losing but I digress) I like getting what I want and I'll do what it takes to get it. I'm selectively loyal, which is most definitely a Slytherin trait. I'm incredibly loyal to those I really, truly care about it's but it's rather hard to gain my loyalty. Finally, I’ve been told I’m manipulative and I suppose I can be at times. It’s certainly not one of my most endearing traits but like I said, I’ll do what it takes.
14. Are you willing to accept cross-gendered votes/stamps?: sure, why not
15. Anything else we should know?: nope
16. Please post at least three clear pictures of yourself:
