Uni stuff

So Uni's started. Exciting stuff. Everything feels so real now compared to when I was just filling out endless UCAS forms.
I have a very wide cross section of people types amongst the 40 or so people I'll be spending the next 3 years with. I've been hearing that once my second and third year starts, it's unlucky that I'll ever sleep again on my course.

You know what? That's pretty fine with me. I really really want to just dive neck deep and let this whole animation world take over my life, so I won't really fight it.

I've straight away observed all the social groups forming in my course. I don't seem to be a part of any of them. I keep bouncing around from group to group talking to people. None too fond of the idea of being tied into a social group so early. I have noticed though. There are those people seeing all this like it's just lessons, just school.. a natural development from college or something. Pfft, we've got access to industry standard animation equipment, blue rooms and motion capture studios. We're essentially basically becoming unpaid amatuer animators. That's how I see it.

My brains become so excited it's gone into hardcore idea generating mode. It's also fun to hear everyone elses ideas on the course. I was right about a lot of youngsters ideas being a bit.. well samey. But I'll also say I was pretty impressed by some too.

There is this group of black guys on my course that are well.. urgh. I really hope I don't get associated with them based no my skin colour. They are for want of a better word "rude boys". Among their favorite phrases are, 'ye get me?', and the iconic 'yo, bredrin!'

There is one black guy that seems ok. I notice him discreetly keeping his distance from the mob too. Outside of those guys it's a real mixed bunch. A 50 year old mother of 3. A japanese girl and a chinese boy. The guy is classic. When he introduced himself to everyone he said, 'Hi, I am from Hong kong, and I am liking your country very much and looking forward to making friends with you all!' That level of enthusiasm just cannot be learned!

Actually I won't mention all the new people all in one uber post. Too many that stick in my mind. I've also met a fair few of the photography students. They seem a lot more fashion concious than the animators. We all have crazy hair colours, and weird sayings on our t-shirts, and about half of us are tattoo whores. The Photographers are way more prim and proper. It's very weird. But they seem nice. Which is good, because I need their help in the coming years.

All my modules this semester are things I do anyway. 'Drawing', 'Narrative and story writing' and 'Introduction to animation'. Is this even work? If I get into this.. no correction. When I get into this as a career. I may die from happy exctied hormones. I swear it's true.

My ex a while back once said, you're really lucky that you know what you're into and what you want to do so strongly. Back then I semi dismissed it, and just sat it in the back of my mind to think about later. Well I certainly see it now. *dances*
(yes.. that's right, things people say to me stay with me for years.. sometimes forever, even if it doesn't register right away).

Anyways, I may not post about ideas I'm actually using for my projects right away.. I am scared of plagerism, so.. meh.
I'll see.
