MINI-PICSPAMS

Joy

(I love this scene from Tricia Tanaka is Dead; it is the very definition of joyful, and I can't help smiling every time I see it.)

Five

"It had your names on it. I had to bring all four of you back, or they said I'd never see my son again!"

Home

"They're referring to you as the "Oceanic Six". That's not the best branding as far as we're concerned, but it's catchy."

Hot

"Nice shot."

Beauty

"It's not an island. It's a place where miracles happen."

SONG FANMIXES

Direction

Crawling in the Dark - Hoobastank

And I wish I could know if the directions that I take
And all the choices that I make won't end up all for nothing

Assure me it's ok to use my heart and not my eyes
To navigate the darkness

I've been crawling in the dark looking for the answer

I’ve loved this song for years, but I heard it again during the last season of Lost, and automatically thought, “Wow, this is so Jack.”-especially Jack circa seasons five and six. There is this longing, this desperate need for a purpose, to find the answers, to find the right path, all of which are things Jack struggles with after leaving the Island. It was hard for me narrow the lyrics down on this one; all of them fit him so well!

Listen to the song here.

Run

Running Away - Hoobastank

And I don't want you to feel sorry for me
You never gave us a chance to be

And when I get close, you turn away
There's nothing that I can do or say
So now I need you to tell me the truth
You know I'd do that for you

So why are you running away?

This one's all about Jack and Kate. This is song reminds me very much of both their early island relationship (prior to season three) as well as their brief and turbulent engagement during season four. Mostly from Jack POV, there is this need for her to stop running, to tell him the truth, to give them a chance, which echoes their dialog from the end of Something Nice Back Home. (Believe it or not, I am not a huge Hoobastank fan--this is pure coincidence)

Listen to the song here.

HAIKUS

Loud
(Kate)

As she runs again
His voice echoes in her ears
“Don’t come back for me.”

Sorry
(Jack)

My plan did not work
Please forgive me, Juliet
I have failed again

Silly

Silly Survivors
There will be no rescue soon
The Island needs you

Protect

Chill out, everyone
I do not need protection
I’m a damn island

Big
(Circa 'The Incident')

We’ll set off the bomb
And erase the last three years
We’re big damn heroes

Epic

For poor Desmond Hume
Every day is the same thing
Push button, save world

FIVE SENTENCE FANFICTIONS

(Free Space)
(Sideways!Jack/Juliet)

It’s half-past midnight and the house is beautifully quiet. There’s nothing but the hum of the fan and the sound of their son’s soft breathing on the monitor. They relish the silence and fall asleep with hands entwined. In the morning, they will wake to a life that is damn near perfect. But in that place between sleep and awake, her hair is brown, his eyes are blue and their little boy sleeping in the other room doesn’t exist.

Soon
(Jacob)

He clicks the dial and sees their faces. The mirrors turn. He feels their pain. One by one, he watches them break.

“Soon,” he whispers to the air.

Animal
(Vincent)

He lifts his nose to the wind and sniffs deep. He follows a familiar scent across the island, to the docks. Amidst a jumble of nonsensical words he hears his name. Big hands and big arms wrap around him, but the scent is the same. His master has come home.

Cold
(Circa Season Four)

At the zoo, Jack and Aaron watch the polar bears. Kate watches Jack and Aaron. Jack holds her little boy in his arms and whispers bits of trivia into his ear, eliciting smiles and giggles. They stare at the bears with identical wide-eyed looks of wonder, their breath fogging up the cold glass. Kate stands back and watches, knowing that this, her perfect little family, ought to be enough for her; it breaks her heart that it isn’t.
