{Take the 100 Things challenge!}
100 things that can be learned from Fight Club ; an introduction and disclaimer
Introduction:
I am a relatively straight-laced conservative girl. I had a normal happy upbringing. I live a normal happy life. I’m not overly angry or tomboyish. I’ve never been in a fight. I try to avoid conflict. So when people ask me what my favorite movie is and I answer with Fight Club, they usually don’t get it at all.
That is because, most people, in my humble opinion, completely miss the point of Fight Club.
Fight Club, both the film and the book it is based on, is about more than a bunch of guys beating the crap out of each other. It is about more than grit and anarchy. It is largely about finding who we are. It has lessons to teach, lessons that are often present in harsh and extreme ways, and yet still ring true and have real life workable interpretations.
It should go without saying that there will be spoilers for all aspects of the film and book. You have been warned.
Disclaimer:
I do not advocate actual fight clubs. I do not advocate acts of mischief, criminality or anarchy. This challenge, for me, is about interpretations. This is about the take away message. This is about what can be learned from the lessons of the fictional Tyler Durden. This is about taking fictional anecdotes from a book and a film and applying them to a real life context.
Most of all, this is for fun, people.
This is largely a personal test; can I reasonably come up with 100 things I’ve learned from a single film and it’s book? We will see. :)
This will also be a slow-burn sort of thing; I'm not sure how long it will take me, but I fully intend to seeing to the end. Eventually.
I am Jack's heightened sense of determination.
