[BBS] Suggestion/Petition for More Appropriate Punishments

[Sent before Shadow leaves for Winhill]

Greetings,

I'll just get right to the point.

The punishments in place here at Balamb Garden are laughable. A lot of cadets, and yes, even SeeDs, break or have broken serious rules set in place for their protection. However, there is no discrimination on the severity of the misconduct and the default punishments ( Read more... )

Serving food? That ain't much of a punishment to me.

[Who is he kidding? He'd like it because he could sneak bites of the profits.]

Breakfast is served at 0630. You would need to arrive by at least 0530 or 0600 to help set up as well.

[Even Shadow isn't a morning person. Waking up that early will suck for anyone.]

Your point? I've done it before. I can do it again.

[Pilots do have to wake up pretty damn early sometimes. Goose isn't about to admit that he doesn't like it, though. Just gonna boost his ego right now.]

Then thank you for your input, then. If these punishments are implemented and you get into trouble, I'll make sure you won't be getting cafeteria duty.

[Goose just dug his own hole, there.]

Oi, bans from excursions would just create more pent up feelings and energy, and expulsion is too harsh.

Your first point is groundless. That's what the training center is for, or other activities. But I agree with your second. I'd not want for a situation to come to that, but if the situation is severe enough...

Expulsion for endangering the life of another thorough inhumane means would be the only circumstance that comes to mind.

I think that would be entirely left up to the headmaster's decision then and thus a moot point.

And the Training Center hardly is the most sufficient way to deal with feeling cooped up. People need bouts of freedom.

Essays seem fine though.

I think we're both at a moot point, in a sense.

Thanks for your input.

Essay? More like a dissertation.

Too short?

Too long. Ten pages is already a pain in the ass, twenty pages is just short of torture.

Unless you like to write, in which case it's no longer a punishment.

It's up for discussion, of course. Plus, it wouldn't be much of a punishment if it was easy.

Each punishment can be tailored to fit each person.

[That other cadet made a fine example.]

This looks pretty good! Though I have to agree, twenty pages is a little much--most students usually groan about 5 pages, let alone 20.

I've added a note regarding a suggestion about that.

[See? He took you seriously.]

[Tom feels so loved right now.] Awesome. I don't know how it'll play out in practice, but let me know how it goes over with Headmaster once you get enough signatures.

I like the idea of the Training Center clean-up. I can't see what writing would do, however, except give someone sore hands.

If I think of something, I'll be in touch.

I've added a note regarding a suggestion about essays.

Perhaps that's the point?

Thank you.

Yes, but the hands don't seem to be a straight line to the brain. My father preferred making my bottom ache for that particular reason.

Though I'm aware we probably can't do that here.

Perhaps physical labor, to make everything ache? Or ensure said troublemakers are too exhausted to get into trouble? I'm sure we can come up with ideas.

More than the training center cleanup. Maybe cleaning the cafeteria as well?

Probably no.

Cafeteria clean up. Sounds good. Perhaps cleaning classrooms, also? With all that use, I can imagine they'd get grimy...
