[Normally Marco wouldn't just be zooming around at extra high speeds, but really, he's trying to test something here and all the extra hyper energy is making him feel even more pent up. So while Haruhi and Kyon argue, there's a fiery blue bird zooming almost dangerously close over their heads. And maybe crowing out an apology in avian language, which is completely useless, really.]
[ Kyon ignores the fact that his letter and catalogue were blown clear off the table in favor of leaping to his feet as well, grabbing Haruhi by the shoulder ]
Watch it! That thing could be dangerous, you know!
'Could be? It was a bird on fire, every shred of common sense is screaming at me to get the hell out!'
[Circles cautiously and then decides that they'll figure out it's a blue PHOENIX eventually and phoenixes are dangerous, but don't attack random kids for the hell of it. So he's back to trying to figure out how quickly he can angle sharply without falling out of the air. And there might be a loop or two, because it turns out; not nearly as fast as he'd like. Whoops. But the act is also causing sparkles to rain down.]
Yeah, but maybe we should observe it from a safe distance? Where it can't divebomb us?
'I had to admit, though, that Haruhi did have a point; it was definitely an awesome sight to behold. Even so, shouldn't not being killed be a top priority?'
[ His grip on her shoulder tightens just a little as he tries to encourage her to at least step back. ]
[Well, Marco officially likes Haruhi for appreciating the sparkles and awesomeness now. So he's landing and cautiously taking some bird steps forward and offering a wing to shake.]
[Haruhi is going to assume that it wouldn't be holding a wing out if it was going to burn her - and hey, even if not, how are you gonna know without trying? So, she reaches out to shake.]
[The flames, of course, do not burn at all and just give a lightly pleasant warming sensation that probably even feels soothing to most people. The blue phoenix meanwhile, chirps happily and gives a small salute and bow. Really, he's getting too much of a kick out of this.]
[Oh look! Kyon isn't that anti-social after all! He's already improved in standing.]

[Haruhi is practically shining with the amount of glee she has. So much so that she's barely thinking coherently and - while she's listening to what Kyon's saying - doesn't actually respond to it. Instead:]
