Monologue 001 [Action//Quad]

Oct 17, 2010 11:13

'There are some days that I'm certain, beyond all reasonable doubt, that there are forces in the universe which exist for the sole purpose of finding new and exciting ways to screw with me. Even so, this is, by far, the most surreal example of it yet. Being trapped in another world? Taking classes in a military academy - I'm sorry, a MAGIC military academy - to work our way up to joining some mercenary group? So it's not enough that I'm disoriented and all just from being hurled into another world entirely, but now I have to go to ANOTHER school on top of all that? Give a guy a break, would you?!

It's a testament to how much insanity I've gone through that I'm even taking this in stride at all. I don't think most people I know would be able to just read and accept the contents of that letter, anyway... and I actually have it worse than most people would, in this situation. Because on top of all of that madness, I also have to deal with this: '

Kyon, all your classes are too boring! Pick magic! Learn how to use a sword! Don't stick with stupid stuff like chemistry, we can do that at home!

[In the Quad, there are two new cadets in unfamiliar uniforms, checking out the course catalogue and apparently arranging their schedules. One, a completely ordinary-looking young man. The other, a girl with ribbons, who'd rolled her copy of the course catalogue up to whack him over the head with.]

And when we get do get home, all of that magic stuff isn't going to be useful at all. I don't want to get back to our school only to realize I've forgotten everything I need to know for exams; try to think of things practically, for once.

'Requesting that was an exercise in futility, I already knew.'

[Bop.]

As a member of the SOS Brigade, it is your sworn mission to take advantage of any opportunity to encounter aliens, psychics, sliders, time travellers, and everything else! I order you to study Guardian Forces! Besides, if you learn how to use weapons, you could join the military and defend Japan from the coming alien threat.

Pass. The only class I'm going to take that wouldn't be normal is Garden Code, and that's only because we're stuck living here anyway. And what alien threat? For all you know they'd come in peace.

'Rest assured, the only threat to Earth is you!'

[ Haruhi huffs, crossing her arms and tapping her shoulder with the makeshift weapon. ]

Exactly! You're stuck here anyway, and if students use GFs then we need to use GFs! Don't you know an important rule for any slider is to adapt and integrate into alien society!

[ She holds her hand out. ]

Give me that schedule! I'll fix it!

[ Grimacing slightly, he tugs the schedule a bit towards himself, clearly less than willing to allow the overly energetic Haruhi to make even a single amendment. ]

Give it a rest, would you? If we're here for long enough I'll have to take those classes anyway, so it's not worth getting worked up over.

[ He looks over his current schedule again, and with a reluctant sigh points to one of his empty slots. ]

I'll put Limit Break Theory there. I have no idea what it is, but it's something out of the ordinary. Is that good enough for you?

[ No. No, it isn't. Haruhi glares at him with solid disapproval, before she relents.]

Fine, fine. Then, I'll take that class there, too!

(( ooc; Joint intro for Kyon and Haruhi! Blue is Haruhi, black is Kyon, and 'these are Kyon's internal monologues'.

Also, Akihiko and Azula, say hello to your new roomies! /o/ ))
