[Minato notes the two obviously new students going over their schedules. Silenced or not, he decides to go greet them, his notebook and pen at the ready.
Thankfully, their uniforms and chatter mark them as Japanese - that should make his side of the conversation go a little more smoothly.]
[ He frowns just slightly as he keeps reading, resting his elbow on the table with his chin in his hand. ]
'Isn't this a bit unfortunate, though? At least in our world it was impractical to believe in this sort of thing, so Haruhi would have maybe gotten over it and moved on eventually. But here... well, here she's bound to run rampant, and that means I'm going to get dragged along for the ride.
What else is new?'
Do you have any idea how long this has been going on for? Or if there's been any progress in finding a way back home?
So it's basically random chance, as far as going home is concerned.
'Unlike Haruhi, some of us would like to go home sooner rather than later. Don't you think everyone's going to worry about us if we're gone for so long? I don't even want to think of how my sister's going to react when I'm suddenly MIA...!'
[ A long sigh, as he shakes his head. ]
Well if nothing else, I guess we're lucky that we weren't thrown out on our asses the moment we got here. The Headmaster must be an alright guy.

Are you an alien or a native?
Reply
Alien, of course. Though we use the term 'off-worlder' here.

What are your super-powers? Do you have a hyper-destructive voice or something?
Reply
Do you really think I would reveal my powers without even knowing who you are?
And it's not related to my voice - I've just been silenced.
Reply
So you do have special powers!
[Silence? What's that?]
Reply
Of course - even if I didn't have any before arriving, staying here for nearly six months would have earned me some.

[ Shooting her a short annoyed glance, he turns to look at the guy with a quirk of his brow and a sort of "sorry for this" shrug of his shoulder. ]
She's Haruhi, and you can call me Kyon.

...ah, fine.
Name?

Minato Arisato. Nice to meet you two.
You'll have plenty of chances for that - there are a few new off-worlders showing up every once in a while.

[Said with a chirpy voice and a dismissive flick of the hand.]
But I'll give you the other question. Arisato-san, how long has this been going on for?

Hard to tell. They only started using Garden as a place to hold us all in
about six months ago, which is as far as the records go.
The only way out so far, is by getting shunted back via Time Compression.

Ah!
[Suddenly struck by a thought, she latches on to Kyon's arm.]
Kyon, what if they're building a super-powered army?! We could be pawns in a world-domination plot!!

You do know we're being trained for mercenary work, right?
