Like many people, I have a laundry list of things that irritate me. Bad drivers, compulsive liars, useless/worthless people taking up space...
But nothing sets me on edge more then snobbish conceited comments that people make about a person just because of their looks. Most of my friends are freaks. Yeah, they mostly work in call centers and are usually more active at night, but they have shown me more kindness then any (and I mean ANY) member of society that is considered "normal".
Just because a person looks like this:
...does not mean that they can't interact with society in a meaningful way. If you don't know their story, why they are the way they are, then STFU. It's not your life. You don't have to live it. But please spare me the hateful commentary.
It offends me. Deeply.
It actually hurts me.
(Especially when it comes to comments about the woman in the picture above. Because of her reasons for altering her looks, I can relate to her on so many levels.)
So yeah. If you give a shit about me, please refrain from making snide remarks about the way people look. Especially if it's based in a sub-culture. If you know for a fact that they are losers and complete wastes of space, then fine. Be as snarky as you like. But at least do a little research before opening your mouth.
I am getting off my soapbox now and I am going to go watch Mythbusters blow stuff up (because I cant blow anything up myself..)
