Well, no.. not really. There's this local weekly paper that had an article stating how conservatives are trying to ban HPV vaccinations for children because they feel that children having the vaccination would be more likely to have sex. {insert eye-roll here}
An excerpt:
"Tony
Perkins, president of the conservative Family Research Council, is on
the record saying that he wouldn't have his teenage daughter
vaccinated against HPV because doing so would send the 'wrong message'
about the importance of abstinence."
This pretty much infuriated me. What if a child gets raped by someone who has HPV? Bet those conservative assholes would realize that they made a really stupid mistake. Especially if it was "their child". I wrote a letter to the editor basically saying that these people are being downright moronic to ban a vaccination like this. Especially for the reason of abstinence. And the editor actually called me and asked me if she had my permission to print my email. So yeah.. my little week of mini-fame that no one will ever see. Go me. :P

Other stuff. Ecamer's job interview must have gone well (I guess). It took him 3 hours and he has to go back tomorrow to finish. Should he actually get the job, then it will mean he will only have one week that he will be out of work. He also applied for a (graveyard shift) job on a website that can be done from the comfort of our home. No phones. Just software/email/monitoring chat boards on a G-rated site. In a perfect world, he would get both jobs and I could take the web one under his log-in and that way we could actually bring in two pay checks **and I would feel a bit less worthless.** I have no idea if he has heard back from this company yet but I'm hopeful. I'm hoping his security level (thats needed to work for child services) will get him noticed and they will hire him. But... being as it is for a web site and the employee can be located anywhere in the country, I'm sure that there are a LOT of applicants. So.. we will see.
Ecamer's co-workers offered to take him out to lunch today and told him he could pick the place. He chose Char's (Thai food) and then, being the smart boy that he is, made a wise decision and promptly called me to invite me to go along. He knows that if he went out for Thai and neglected to take me along, that it would be grounds for divorce.
Still no hot water. I took a shower anyway though and braved a full 20 minutes with teeth chattering the entire time. And I must say, I'm glad I did because even though I was wrapped in a towel and several blankets for about 35 minutes trying to get my body temp back up, I am much happier when I am fresh and clean and smelling like orchids.
I'm thinking of changing my layout. Something bright, cutesy, cheerful and pixelated. In other words, I want to change my journal packaging so that I am falsely advertising myself to unsuspecting lj lurkers. Something like this:
Not exactly the same as that, (and my background would definitely NOT be animated) but you get the idea.
Problem is, I have no idea if I could stand to look at these cutesy images every time I logged in...
