Yes yes yes yes EVER LOVING YES. I love Dean, I swear he is my woobie and cuddle-monkey and everything else. But I love Sam and I respect him and I find him endlessly fascinating. And I love how Sam loves Dean. It's a different kind of love than Dean's love, but it's real and powerful and enduring and people need to stop lamenting over how poor Dean is "just" a sidekick, as if poor Dean was getting the short end of the stick and Sam was getting all the glory. No! They're not the same, but they're a team and they love each other and we need them BOTH TOGETHER.
But I love Sam and I respect him and I find him endlessly fascinating. And I love how Sam loves Dean.
Someone who feels my pain! I just don't get the need to choose one brother over the other. Yeah, have a favorite, whatever, but geeze, devotion to one character does not mean you must rage at the other for every imagined insult right? Yes, Sam went away and that hurt Dean, and it was selfish of Sam, but I don't get how people don't understand why he did it when we see what that life is like. It took a lot of courage and a lot of anger for Sam to leave. It just boggles my mind that anyone would hate him for that. I'd understand if they used other reasons to hate him, but not THAT. Man.
Devil's Trap just totally proved that it's about the brothers, not either one, because it was really balanced. It stated that the demon was after Sam because Sam was special in some way, although not unique all by himself, but it was an episode largely about Dean. I was very impressed by that.
ITA with you on everything-especially the Sammy love*hugs* I have "in defense of Sammy" clothes too*wink* The look in the mirror was perfect-and so was Sam's thank you scene earlier in the cabin. My heart melted sometime during this eppy and I'm still trying to put it back together.
This show totally owns me and I'll be vidding obsessively right along with ya all summer*grin*
