Had a bit of a scare earlier! While hanging out with a friend, I tried a sip of the smoothie she'd brought with her. The package had said it was made with berries, but it turned out to have some banana in it.
Of course, we didn't know about it until my throat swelled, heartrate increased, and the dreadful headache damn near knocked me over. Fortunately, we were at her place when it happened, so I could just lie down until the problems went away (I'm glad that I've never had full-blown anaphylaxis.) God, I hate my banana allergy. I did some research tonight and saw that many people are only allergic to fresh bananas, with no reaction to cooked bananas. Hmm. I'm almost tempted to try a banana-nut muffin or something, because I really do miss that fruit. Though if I did, I'd do so when I'm at home, of course. :)
Oh, and I decided to get a Costco membership. Hmm. We'll see how that goes.
So, right now I'm drinking some wine. I do love my darling gewurztraminer. I've been having a glass once or twice a week, which is huge for me. I've never been much of a drinker, mostly because I really don't like the taste of alcohol, but German white wines suit me just fine. Probably for the best, since I already have enough addictions as is!
I also rented some DVDs as a distraction from the wait for tomorrow's BSG.
Earlier, my friend and I watched Shut Up and Sing!, the documentary about the Dixie Chicks. She liked it as a fan of theirs, but since I've never been into country, I really appreciated what they had to say about free speech and their -- and, by extension, our -- rights and responsibilities as artists and people. Definitely worth a rental.
And now I'm watching Marie Antoinette, which is a bit of a letdown since I've loved Sofia Coppola's other films, but still better than I expected from the reviews. In a roundabout way, it made me wonder what I'd do if I could change one moment in history. My first reaction was the burning of the Alexandria library, but I'm wary of the ripple effects. In fact, that's one of my big things with history -- I'm too caught up in the idea of the butterfly effect to really buy into the "if you could change one thing" scenario. Or maybe I'm just not open-minded enough!
Very cool BSG news! In his recap of "Dirty Hands", Jacob slipped in the news that
Jane Espenson has officially joined the writing staff for next season. Yay!
Just realized I haven't done a BSG promo pics poll in a while! So, here's one for "Maelstrom" - spoilers ONLY for the promotional photographs.
