1. Today's silliness: my wildly imaginative 3-year-old nephew was apparently so enraptured by all those Christmas and birthday presents that he has created "Diwali Hawk". Apparently, the family leaves gummi worms (Sis talked him out of real worms) for Diwali Hawk, who swoops down on the night before the holiday, bringing candy, sparklers, and clothes for good little girls and boys. I can't wait to see the photos in November. ;)
2. I've never really been a fan of Ryan Reynolds, but as an oldskool Hardy fangirl (yes, I know), I am tickled pink that he is developing a NBC sitcom titled
The Mayors of Casterbridge. Okay, the plot apparently has nothing to do with everyone's favorite wife-selling Victorian melodrama, but I'll tune into the pilot for that title alone.
3. In the latest episode of Red Band Trailer,
Diablo Cody interviews Kyle Chandler. Cody really knows her FNL trivia, and it's quite delightful. Bonus points for her question, "True or false: Tami Taylor has a slight drinking problem." ;)
4. Last week, Sepinwall posted
an interview with Community creator Dan Harmon. The interview itself is pretty good, but I really appreciated his answer to the first question. He talks about how his girlfriend (she's doing a PhD in media studies) told him about shippers, which he kept in mind as he approached the characters and fanbase. It's so nice to see a showrunner who respects that part of his audience, instead of rolling his eyes or claiming that 'ships are irrelevant.
5. I really need to make an icon with this awesome Margaret Atwood quote from Cat Eye: "Another belief of mine: that everyone else my age is an adult, whereas I am merely in disguise."
ETA: Jon Hamm is being funny on tonight's Daily Show, and will be funny on tomorrow's Fresh Air. Love ya, baby (though only when you're being funny.)
