okee, first of all, my mission, which should have taken about a week at least, ended up being about two days, since my gun truck got turned around at one of the bases to help escort another convoy south back to Navistar. Unfortunately, that was long enough for myself to get very stinky, and the stuff in my bag to become stinky from being near other stinky me clothes.
first thing I apparently did on the mission was break my camera, even though it still takes pictures and stuff, the slide cover no longer works and it won't zoom, so it gets sent home soon. I did manage to get a video of some camel herders and their camels though, so Anna and Amaris (aka nieces OF DOOM) should be entertained by that.
I was also entertained by the fat civilian contractor woman at the PX (store) at one of the bases who NEEDED her damn pork rinds so badly that she had 'em open and was chowng down on 'em before she checked them out.
it still stands as fact that Iraqi kids are assholes. Not only do they harrass the trucks I'm supposed to be guarding, trying to sell and steal crap at the same time, but when I get out and yell at them, they just laugh at me, because they know I can't do a damn thing to them. And then they come up and lie to me, telling me they're trying to get the other kids off the road, all the while smiling and trying to sell me drugs. If only they would just go away, then crap like 10 year old girls getting run over by semi's (like what happened at one of the bases while I was there) wouldn't happen. The damn kids just keep running in and out of the traffic, causing trouble and flipping us off. I really wish I had my paintball gun.
