First Snow

Dec 06, 2007 20:28

We got a few inches out of a "Clipper" system yesterday, much to my surprise.

I wasn't all that excited, to tell you the truth. I'm not a native Marylander, but I've lived here long enough to know the fronts that dump truly impressive amounts of snow typically come from the South. Sandwiched as I am between the Chesapeake Bay and the Blue Ridge Mountains, lots of West to East traveling weather events get hung up in the Appalachian or Blue Ridge Mountains before they ever get to where I am. Weather systems capable of delayed openings or outright closures typically come up from the South.

Typically, but not always. The little storm we had yesterday dropped enough snow to merit a two hour delay for most schools and businesses. A few closed outright, but not many.

If I'd been in a normal college class at a normal facility, my class probably would have been canceled. As it was, the online classes went on as scheduled, but a few of my classmates had weather related difficulties with electricity and trees falling.

I'm officially done with all my assignments, and only have the final left. *Yay!* Well, the final and one more lecture session, but the last lecture doesn't count. It isn't going to be on the test, anyway. I'm taking tonight off, but I plan to get right back on it tomorrow. Unless plans fall through, we're supposed to meet up with mollymorrison and sorerutenshi over the weekend and I want to make sure I'm done or at least in progress. I have until next Wednesday to finish, but there's really no point in delaying. (Can you tell I'm ready for this to be over?) ;-)

I'm pre-registered for two 16-week classes for the Spring semester: Computer Forensics and Incident Handling and Complementary Security (this one deals with personnel, operational and physical security, as well as current and future authentication standards.) The scheduling will be a little different, but I think two 16-week classes might be easier than trying to juggle one 16-week class and two 8-week ones. Those 8-week classes can get intense. The longer ones aren't quite so fast paced. My schedule through summer looks like this. Starting next fall I will go back to the one 16-week and two 8-week classes, especially if I can get in the program that allows some time off to study. Also, I have it on good authority to take the legal class by itself. ;-)
