So I finally got promoted yesterday! I'm now an assistant manager....no specific assistant manager (like visual or people), though our new store manager said that he wants me to be in charge of the betty's side of the store when it comes to the visual presentation (did I mention that 80% of our business comes from the sale of women's clothing? haha, yes, i graduated a little over a month ago! and yes, my concentration was marketing. to bring you up to speed, in july hollister tried to hire me as a manager-in-training (MIT) but because i was a full semester away from graduating, they weren't allowed to do that. so from august to november, i worked as a part-time sales associate (model...we like to give special names to these sorts of things) and waited patiently to become an MIT. the MIT training period lasts for a maximum of 90 days, but i went 91 days because my district manager was on vacation and also i think was waiting for just the right time. now, i'm a full-fledged manager, but instead of being responsible for hiring or visual tasks or shipment tasks, i do a little bit of everything. for instance, if the people manager isn't there on a day when the interviews need to be done, i'll do them. it's not a bad thing, it's just funny when the kids ask me "which manager are you?" and i can't be specific. starting monday we're going to have a store manager, four assistant managers, and a new MIT, so it's really only a matter of time before one of us assistants gets moved, and i decided to volunteer to be that person.

i think that's really about it...i'm still in the same apartment, still in cold as all hell maryland, and enjoying being a part of the real world. that's so awesome that you're opening up your own company! what will you be doing? i'm guessing you're going to be staying at your current job for awhile? next time you come down this way let me know!
