getting there

So I finally got promoted yesterday! I'm now an assistant manager....no specific assistant manager (like visual or people), though our new store manager said that he wants me to be in charge of the betty's side of the store when it comes to the visual presentation (did I mention that 80% of our business comes from the sale of women's clothing? yeah). Oh! And I got asked if I would be willing to move to a different store. Florida's not in the near future sadly, but I've been told by both the district manager and a number of old managers I've worked with that the more flexible you are about relocating, the more likely you are to move up to within the company quickly AND get to "the" place faster. So yeah....just kinda sitting pretty at the moment. The DM asked me if I would be willing to work at a store in the DC district, and he mentioned Annapolis, so that's kind of where I'm leaning right now.

As weird as this sounds, if I worked in the Annapolis store, after my lease is up, I could move in with my parents and take over the "mother-in-law suite" aka the basement with a private bathroom. The only thing I'd have to share would be the kitchen. Plus, the drive is easy and doesn't involve a highway. And not paying rent? Hellooooo, extra money for a house! So it's a possibility. I'm also investigating areas out in Wheaton and Bethesda, though anything within an hour and a half of Bethesda is around $2000 a month. I'd like to afford more than just my rent, thanks. Everything's so up in there. What's certain is that I'm an assistant manager, I've been offered the chance to relocate/transfer stores, and Matt's actually giving a damn. Yay!

Don't worry, I'm not going anywhere until the end of the May at the absolute earliest. Who knows, I might end up in this apartment for another year. Just gotta see how it goes.
