Well over a year ago, my aunt got me an African violet. I managed to keep it blooming, so my aunt gave me two she'd received that had stopped blooming after the initial flowers. Now, about a year later, I've managed to get both those plants to bloom again. (My poor aunt took it with good grace when she saw the pictures.)
This one bloomed first this year.
This one JUST started blooming a couple weeks ago. It now has many more blossoms on it. I am ridiculously pleased.
And this is all three of the violets I have, with the one I started with most prominent (and that one? Has NEVER stopped blooming. Blossoms die, others immediately grow to take their place).
I don't grow things, you see. I either never have plants of my own, am too lazy to garden (I almost started weeding the other weekend, it was astonishing, I've never felt compelled to weed before), or kill things dead. So this is very exciting.
Oh, and here was the drive to work one morning the other week, when I went in early:
I love a good mist first thing in the morning.
