Life doesn't come easy. Even though I'm at Penn State, I'm not going to get a job right after I leave. It takes work and determination to get something in this world. I know Del Tech is not UD but at least it is college. You are doing something a lot of kids are age aren't even doing. Don't think that it won't amount to anything. You make it amount for something.
As for the friends thing, I know how you feel. People never call me. Maybe once or twice, but most of the time they are inviting me somewhere because they couldn't hang out the first time I called them. And I mean, that might be partly my fault because I don't use my phone very much at all. But, I'm starting to realize it depends on how you look at it.
I know the friends that I have from home and at school aren't going to like me any less or worse than they do now if we don't hang out or talk. I know it is nice to keep in touch with friends but if you know you are making the effort than its their loss.
One other thing is that you might have to be patient. New relationships might be hard to deal with and continuing ones (as I'm sure you know) take work.
So, you don't have to take my advice or anything I just saw a friend in need and I wanted to help out. Take care and don't be too sad. Like I always say, things seem to turn out for the better even if they look grim.
